Awakening

Overview

Awakening overview

When Shilen toppled Ye Sagira, she roused the leader of the ancient Giants, Hermuncus, who is sealed in the ruins. Hermuncus asks adventurers to find and release him from his seals. In return, he promises to Awaken them by giving them the powers of the Giant heroes.

When a character reaches level 85, Hermuncus sends a message directly to the mind of the character, offering the power to confront the Destruction in return for releasing him from his seals. The character accepts and completes the Seize Your Destiny quest, acquires a Scroll of Afterlife, and goes to the Reliquary of the Giants. There, the character brings the scroll item to the statue of the Giant hero that represents the Awakening class the character will become, and the character Awakens.

Upon Awakening, a character can exchange old skills for new skills that only that Awakening class can use. The new skills can be learned from the Learn Skill tab of the Skill window. The character also receives SP and the Essence of the Giants.

The Awakened character also receives a chest containing gifts from the Giant whose powers the character absorbed. These gifts include a weapon infused with the essence of the character's class before Awakening, five 100,000,000 SP scrolls, a class-specific cloak, two Weapon Attribute Change Crystals (S-Grade), and five Elixirs of Blessing.

Exclusive Awakening Perks

An Awakened character has access to exclusive perks, such as a new mode of transportation called Sayune, a class-specific mount skill, the ability to obtain a Dual Class, new race skills, the ability to equip and use R-grade items, and much more. In addition to the Sayune ability, Awakened characters can also use special teleports offered by NPCs called Hermuncus’s Servants that can be found in key hunting zones. These teleports cost 150,000 Adena each. There are different teleport destinations available depending on an Awakened character’s level.

Stone of Destiny

A level 85 character who is in a third class transfer can naturally Awaken into a single, destined class. However, the Stone of Destiny gives a character the choice of Awakening into a different class. With the launch of Goddess of Destruction, all characters of level 40 or above are given a single Stone of Destiny. The Stone of Destiny is only granted to a character once. A character who has both a Stone of Destiny and a Scroll of Afterlife can Awaken into a class other than the destined class. The Stone of Destiny disappears when a character Awakens, even if the character Awakens into the destined class. It is a permanent non-tradable quest item.

Awakening Skill Replacement

When a character Awakens they must trade in their old class's skills for the Awakening class's skills. Upon Awakening, a character's Forgotten Book skills are removed.

If a player has used a Stone of Destiny to Awaken to a class that they would not have naturally evolved to, all of the previous class skills are replaced by the skills of a Human character that would naturally evolve to the character's chosen Awakening class. For example, if an Elven Elemental Master uses a Stone of Destiny to Awaken as a Tyrr Warrior, the Elemental Master skills are replaced with Duelist skills. The Duelist skills are then traded in for the Tyrr Warrior skills.

The following charts list the skills that each class must exchange to receive Awakening class skills.

Entrance NPCDaichir in Schuttgart

Destroying the Eggs of Trasken

Shilen summoned one of her greatest minions, the Earth Wyrm Trasken, to assist her in collecting blood from the sacrifices made by her followers. Although his nest is near the Mithril Mines, Trasken’s massive tail has been spotted emerging from the ground in various locations around the continent of Aden.

Trasken is an end-game, world boss raid in which hundreds of characters may participate. The raid is available on alternate Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The entrance NPC Daichir also gives a quest especially for the Trasken raid. The quest has different instructions and rewards, depending on the level of the characters grouping for the raid. The raid occurs in three stages, guiding characters into Trasken’s body so that they may destroy his heart. Trasken drops a special raid boss jewelry item.

  • Level 95-99: Characters of this level range can enter the raid as a raid force of no more than 100 characters. In the raid fight, characters must concentrate on defeating the main body of Earth Wyrm Trasken.
  • Level 85-94: Characters of this level range can enter the raid fight with or without being in a group, as long as they have the quest active. In the raid fight, characters must concentrate on defeating the Feelers and Giant Tentacle Larvae, which are lesser creatures surrounding Trasken’s main body.
  • Groups that are a mix of both level ranges may not enter the raid.

A much smaller and weaker version of Earth Wyrm Trasken, Teredor is wreaking havoc inside and around the Mithril Mines. Entrance to the raid can be gained by speaking with Gray Pillar member Filaur in Schuttgart. Filaur also offers a quest for the raid. A group of seven characters of level 85 or above can accept the quest and enter the raid.

The inside of the raid dungeon is divided into four areas on the lower level and a fifth area on the upper level, which contains the raid boss. Each of the four lower areas contains larval eggs and insect monsters that increase in number as characters work through them. Each area must be cleared before progressing to the next or characters receive a penalty for trying to skip the area.

After the four lower areas are cleared, characters gain access to Teredor. He is an agile monster that will avoid characters’ targeting by moving around the area as his health decreases.

There is no lock-out timer for this raid.

However, instead of resting in glory, Octavis was woken from his long slumber by the increasing presence of Shilen’s evil.

The Octavis raid fight occurs in three stages. In stage one, Octavis is driving a chariot; characters must attack the chariot. In stage two, Octavis attacks with melee skills. In stage three, Octavis transforms and attacks with magic skills. Octavis drops various rare raid boss accessory items.

Spezion was sentenced by Einhasad to suffer forever in the Prison of Darkness, his body pinned by the bars that also imprison him.

While hunting inside the Prison of Darkness instanced dungeon, characters collect Frightening Memory Fragments and Terrifying Memory Fragments. There are also cannons in the dungeon that can be fired if a character inserts a cannonball. When all party members have Frightening Memory Fragments in their inventory, they can activate the Normal mode Spezion raid by interacting with Spezion’s Headstone. Fairy Leader Kimerian has been corrupted by the influence of Shilen’s evil, which is spreading through the world. He terrorizes his own people and punishes them if they resist. He has lost much of his self-awareness, and struggles against his own insanity somewhere deep in the Fairy Settlement. Kimerian can be challenged in a solo raid by a character of level 90 or above.

While hunting in Fairy Settlement, characters can find the items Kimerian’s Silver Key and Kimerian’s Gold Key on monsters. The silver key lets characters into the Normal mode Kimerian Raid. The gold key lets characters into the Epic mode raid. The raid can be entered by speaking to Noetie Kisharu in the Ancient City of Arcan.

Although this is a solo raid, the character receives assistance from fairy NPCs inside the instance, and can summon more if possessing a specific item. Characters are also given items that attract healing Wisps on the ground to them. Normal mode and Epic mode operate differently from one another. In Normal mode, the path to Kimerian is rigged with traps that the character must overcome. A character can free ally NPCs and receive their help. There are also a few easter eggs hidden in the zone.

In Epic mode, a character has more fairy allies and the battle is focused on a tougher Kimerian. The Epic mode zone does not have the extra elements that Normal mode does.

The Balok raid takes place in Crystal Caverns and occurs in three stages. In stage two, characters may be imprisoned, guarded by wardens who have the key to the cage. In stages two and three, Balok opens a gate to hell to summon minions, and becomes increasingly stronger.

Antharas and Valakas

With the awakening of Shilen, her children were granted even greater powers of darkness. Because of Shilen's influence, dragons such as Antharas and Valakas also regained consciousness, waking from eons of confusion and meaningless chaos. With their powers dependent on lunar influence, these dragons are trying to leave their lairs in order to complete the great sacrifice for Shilen.

Antharas’s and Valakas’s stats, difficulty, and rewards have been boosted. These raids are now recommended for characters of level 99.

Changes to Items

S-Grade and Common Items

  • S-Grade elixirs can now be used by characters of level 84 and below.
  • All S84-Grade items are now S80-Grade. Dual daggers can only be equipped beginning at level 81.
  • All Common items sold in shops and dropped by monsters are now Unidentified items.
  • With the exception of Dynasty items, S-Grade or lower Unidentified items can now be purchased from NPC vendors.

Unidentified Item System

  • S-Grade and lower items are now affected by the new item system.
  • Unidentified items can be double-clicked to make them into Bound or Standard items.
  • A Bound weapon obtained from a C- to S-Grade Unidentified item has one of three random special abilities automatically applied.
  • The randomly chosen special ability cannot be removed or switched.
  • S-Grade or lower set armor effects still apply if Bound or Standard items of the same set are equipped together.

Bound Dual Weapon Crafting

Blacksmiths who can craft C- or D-Grade dual weapons can now also craft C- or D-Grade Bound dual weapons. This requires Bound one-handed weapons and a small number of crystals of that grade.

Crystallization and Soul Crystals

Crystallization

All Awakened characters, regardless of race or class, can crystallize items. All characters who are not yet Awakened follow the previous rules, under which only Dwarves can crystallize items.

Crystallizing an R-Grade or higher item yields R-Grade crystals and may also randomly yield an R-Grade enchant scroll, a rare Soul Crystal Fragment, or an R-Grade item crafting material.

Soul Crystals

New Soul Crystals (Red, Blue and Green) and rare Soul Crystals (Yellow, Turquoise, and Purple) for grades R, R95, and R99 have been added to the game. Soul Crystals drop from some monsters, and R-Grade Soul Crystals can also be purchased from Adventurer Guildsman NPCs with seals obtained as rewards from instanced dungeons.

Rare Soul Crystal Fragments obtained from crystallization can be exchanged with a Merchant of Mammon NPC in batches of 10 for a whole rare Soul Crystal of the same color.

Weapons imbued with a special ability by using a rare Soul Crystal can have another special ability added. Imbuing an R-Grade or higher weapon with a special ability requires an R-Grade gemstone, which can be purchased from a Merchant of Mammon NPC.

Bound items cannot be altered with rare Soul Crystals, and regular Soul Crystals cannot be removed from Bound items.

Enchant System Improvements

With the addition of R-Grade and higher items and the Unidentified item system, changes have been made to the basic enchanting system in Lineage II.

The stats for enchanting items that are R-Grade or higher increase at the same rate for Bound and Standard items, but at a higher rate for Blessed items. When R-Grade or higher weapons are enchanted beyond level 4, they offer additional stats.

Also, enchanting has been improved so that the HP boost an item receives at level 7 enchantment is now received at level 6 enchantment.

Armor, Shops, Enchant, and Dyes

  • Dynasty Armor may now be equipped by all Awakened classes.
  • Awakened Kamael characters may now equip Heavy armor and Robes of S-Grade or above. S-Grade and S80-Grade Heavy and Robe armor use the same appearance as Light armor, while R-Grade and above Heavy and Robe armor have unique appearances.
  • The number of slots in shops, private shops, private warehouses, and personal workshops has been expanded to 42. The Refund tab still remains at 12 slots.
  • Items can no longer be dropped when the Enchant interface window is open.
  • Enchanted armor pieces now give less HP boost.
  • Awakened characters can now use any R-Grade dye regardless of class. The bonus cap of tattoos has changed from 15 to 18, and the negative modifier decreases exponentially as tattoo level increases.

  • Magical Accuracy (M. Accuracy) is now a stat attribute. The higher a character's Magical Accuracy, the higher that character's chance of making a successful magical attack.
  • Magical Evasion (M. Evasion) is now a stat attribute. The higher a character's Magical Evasion, the higher that character's chance of evading a magical attack.
  • The bonus effect of the Magical Critical Damage (M. Critical Damage) stat has been reduced from 2.5 times more damage to 2 times more damage.

Resistance to Mesmerizing Debuffs

Awakened classes have a boosted resistance to mesmerizing debuffs, also known as incapacitating debuffs. There are two types of mesmerizing debuffs:

  • Physical: Stun, Paralyze, Knockback, Knock Down, Hold, Disarm, Petrify
  • Mental: Sleep, Mutate, Fear, Aerial Yoke, Silence

When an Awakened character is affected by a mesmerizing debuff, that character's chance of being affected by another debuff of the same type is lowered for 15 seconds. If the character is affected with a second mesmerizing debuff, the chance of being affected by another successful mesmerizing debuff decreases even further.

  • The first mesmerizing debuff has the usual chance of success.
  • The second mesmerizing debuff has 60% of the usual chance of success.
  • The third mesmerizing debuff has 30% of the usual chance of success.
  • A character affected by three mesmerizing debuffs at once becomes immune to further mesmerizing debuffs.

In addition, some Awakening class skills boost resistance to physical (P. Mez resistance) or mental (M. Mez resistance) mesmerizing debuffs.

Death Penalty

The Death Penalty debuff system has been removed from the game. Now, when a character dies, there is a chance that the character will be affected by the Shilen's Breath debuff. There is a 100% chance of being affected by Shilen's Breath if a character is killed by the following instanced dungeon raid bosses: Spezion, Teredor, Veridan, Kechi, Michaelo, Freya, Maliss, Isadora, Octavis, Istina, Balok, Baylor, the Fortuna boss, and Antharas.

Shilen's Breath is a poisonous effect that Shilen inflicts on a character who passes through the realm of death, where her powers are strong. However, the adventurers of Aden are able to resist Shilen's Breath to some degree.

Shilen's Breath Levels

  • Level 1: The character resists the poison and gains a boost in HP recovery, which lasts 10 minutes.
  • Level 2: The character resists the poison. Resistance to Dark increases by 5, and the character gains a boost in XP rate and in HP recovery. These effects last 10 minutes.
  • Level 3: The character is poisoned and the character's combat stats are reduced. These effects last 5 minutes.
  • Level 4: The character is poisoned and the character's combat stats are reduced further than at level 3. These effects last 5 minutes.
  • Level 5: The character is poisoned and the character's combat stats are reduced drastically. These effects last 5 minutes.

A character affected by Shilen's Breath at levels 3, 4, or 5 can reduce the debuff to level 2 by speaking to an Adventurers' Guide or Newbie Guide NPC in town.

Characters still lose experience points when they die, but they will not lose levels. For example, if a character dies at level 70 and 1% XP, that character will lose the 1% XP but will stay at level 70.

The amount of XP lost when a character dies while Chaotic has increased. Although the general death penalty system has changed, a character who dies while on a battlefield still receives the Battlefield Death Syndrome debuff.

Clan Adjustments

Clan Academy

The level requirement for a character to join a Clan Academy has changed from level 40 or lower to level 75 or lower. Graduation from the Clan Academy now requires level 75 or higher and completion of the third class transfer.

To sponsor a Clan Academy apprentice, a clan member must now be level 76 or higher and have completed the third class transfer. All previous sponsor relationships were annulled with the launch of Goddess of Destruction, so apprentices must appoint new sponsors who meet the new requirements.

New Clan Academy apprentice skills have been added. These skills stack with other clan buffs and can be used by a sponsor or clan leader on any Clan Academy apprentice.

Skill Name Used By Description Reuse Time
Academy Precept Level 1SponsorIncreases P. Atk., M. Atk., P. Critical Rate, and M. Critical Rate by 10% for 60 minutes.12 hours
Academy Precept Level 2Clan leaderIncreases P. Atk., M. Atk., P. Critical Rate, and M. Critical Rate by 20% for 60 minutes.6 hours

A sponsor cannot use Academy Precept Level 1 after the apprentice graduates, leaves the clan, is expelled, or after the clan is disbanded. A clan leader cannot use Academy Precept Level 2 after a leadership transfer or after the clan is disbanded.

When an apprentice graduates from the Clan Academy, the clan now receives 290 to 2,000 Clan Reputation points instead of 190 to 650. In addition, 1,000 Clan Reputation points are awarded for every 10 apprentices who graduate.

The old sponsor-apprentice quests, The Leader and the Follower and To Lead and Be Led, have been removed and replaced with new quests.

Quest Name Required Level Apprentice Rewards Sponsor Rewards Clan Rewards
Follow Me40 or higherXP, SP, Academy Circlet300 Fame points100 Clan Reputation points
Come to Me70 or higherXP, SP, Mentor Ring2,000 Fame points1,000 Clan Reputation points

The Academy Circlet is now acquired when a level 40 or higher Clan Academy apprentice completes Follow Me with a sponsor. It can no longer be purchased from Blacksmith Pinter, reduces XP loss by half if a level 40 to 75 character dies while wearing it, and cannot be traded or dropped.

The Mentor Ring has been added as an A-Grade ring for Clan Academy apprentices or graduates. It gives M. Def. +55 and MP +22, but cannot be traded, dropped, crystallized, stored in a clan warehouse, shared via the Dimensional Merchant, or used in the Olympiad.

The Clan Oath set can no longer be purchased from Blacksmith Pinter, but existing sets will not be deleted.

Apprentices of level 70 or higher now have the same relationship to enemies as other clan members. If they kill or are killed by an opposing clan member, Clan Reputation is not changed. All apprentices can now participate in PvP activities such as clan wars, castle sieges, territory wars, and fortress battles, just like other clan members.

Clan Halls and Skills

Provisional Clan Halls have been added to the game. Unlike regular clan halls, they are temporary and instanced, giving clans without permanent halls a chance to enjoy clan hall benefits.

Clan Hall Type Requirement Rental Price Availability
Orchid HallStandardClan level 5 or above20 million Adena180 per server
Ellia HallDeluxeClan level 5 or above40 million Adena60 per server
Laurel HallSuperiorClan level 8 or above50 million Adena60 per server

If a clan is level 5 or higher and does not already own a clan hall, it can bid for a Provisional Clan Hall through the Auctioneer NPC in any town or village. The auction period lasts two weeks. Winning a hall grants ownership for 28 days.

Clan skills can now be acquired only by spending Clan Reputation points, and many new clan skills have been added. Clan Shield Block can now be acquired at the rank of Elder instead of Baron, and Clan's Luck now decreases item drop rate and XP loss rate when a character is killed by a monster or another character.

Clan wars have been mitigated so that clans can no longer go to war indefinitely or without an outcome. All war information has been reset.

Declaring War

  • War can be declared by clans of level 3 or higher that have at least 15 clan members.
  • A clan can declare war on up to five clans at the same time.
  • War can be declared through the /DeclareWar command or the Declare War option in the Clan window.
  • After a declaration, there is a three-day preparation period before war starts automatically.
  • The declaring clan can retract the war during the preparation period.

Clan War Progress

  • During mutual war, both clans lose 100% XP if killed by opposing clan members.
  • During the preparation period, regular PvP rules apply and Reputation is affected.
  • Attacking an opposing clan member still requires a forced attack and turns the attacker's name purple.
  • Castle siege rules override clan war rules during siege events.

Outcome and End of Clan War

  • A clan war ends automatically three weeks after it starts.
  • The outcome is determined by comparing kill-counts and death-counts.
  • After a war ends, neither clan can declare war on the other for one week.
  • A clan can declare defeat one week after the war starts.
  • Declaring defeat ends the war and records it as a win for the opposing clan.

Subclass and Dual Class

Characters can now make a dual class out of one of their existing subclasses. While subclasses have a level cap of 80, a dual class does not have this restriction and can be raised to level 99 through a fourth class transfer. The Dual Class ability is obtained by completing the Split Destiny quest.

The list of subclasses that a character can choose has changed. A character cannot choose a subclass that would Awaken as the same class that the character's main class would. For example, Archmage, Soultaker, Mystic Muse, Storm Screamer, and Soul Hound all Awaken as a Feoh Wizard. Therefore, a character who is an Archmage cannot select a subclass from any of the other four classes listed.

Characters can now switch between their main class, subclass, and dual class without speaking to an NPC. To switch, open the Character Status window and use the buttons at the top right that represent the different classes. Characters can switch classes anywhere except in these instanced dungeons: the Teredor raid, Fortuna, Prison of Darkness, Crystal Caverns, Shilen's Altar, the Hall of the Abyss, and the Seize Your Destiny quest instance.

The Subclass class quest has been replaced with a new one that characters can acquire from the new Subclass NPC, Raina, in Talking Island Village. Raina can also assist characters in creating or resetting their subclasses. Previous NPC functions for changing subclasses have been removed.

Every time a character switches classes, the Identity Crisis debuff is applied. The debuff lasts 15 seconds, during which time the character's combat abilities are reduced and the character cannot change classes, use skills, or use items other than potions.

Upon the launch of the Goddess of Destruction update, characters with one or more subclasses will receive a Class Change Certificate for each of their subclasses. Using the Class Change Certificate will instantly change the character's current subclass to a desired subclass of the same level and having all skills relevant to that level. However, skill enchantments from the previous subclass will be lost.

At the time of the Goddess of Destruction update, all Subclass Certification skills will be reset, and the item Certificate - Subclass will be removed from the game. Subclass skills will now be certified by speaking with the new Subclass Certifier NPC, Tatum, in Talking Island Village. Previous Subclass Certification functions of Grand Master NPCs will be removed.

A character's main class and subclass can now both receive the effects of Subclass Certification skills. All existing Subclass Certification skills have been replaced by the following skills:

  • Sub - P. Atk./M. Atk. Increase
  • Sub - P. Def./M. Def. Increase
  • Sub - Atk. Spd./Casting Spd. Increase
  • Sub - Critical Damage Increase
  • Sub - Physical Attribute Resistance Increase
  • Sub - Mental Attribute Resistance Increase
  • Sub - Physical Ability Increase
  • Sub - MP Consumption/Reuse Time Decrease

Changes to Skills

All new skills are now learned through the new Learn Skill tab in the Skill window.

Because the new maximum number of characters in a party is now seven, settings for healer and enchanter classes have changed.

Healers

Cardinals, Eva's Saints, and Shillien Saints now all receive seven Holy Pomanders when they complete their third class transfer. All three types of Holy Pomanders are now destructible. Healers can now learn these additional skills from each other, at the cost of one Holy Pomander per skill:

  • Balance Life
  • Arcane Protection
  • Mass Purify
  • Mass Vitalize
  • Mass Cure Poison

Eva's Saints and Shillien Saints can now learn the following skills up to the same level as Cardinals:

  • Greater Battle Heal Lv 33
  • Major Heal Lv 11
  • Resurrection Lv 9

The skills Greater Battle Heal and Major Heal can now be upgraded. The Inquisitor mode has been removed from the game, and all debuff and magic skills usable in Inquisitor mode can now be used like normal skills.

Enchanters

The required character level to learn the following Sword Singer and Sword Muse skills has changed:

  • Song of Mediation can now be acquired at level 52 instead of 77.
  • Song of Vitality can now be acquired at level 55 instead of 66.

New skills for Sword Singers and Bladedancers combine the effects of complementing songs and dances. These skills cannot be enchanted and do not stack with regular songs or dances.

Skill Name Acquisition Level Skill Effect
Critical Rhythm43Dance of Fire / Song of Hunter
Magic Rhythm52Dance of Mystic / Song of Warding
Wizard Rhythm55Dance of Concentration / Song of Meditation
Combat Rhythm58Dance of Warrior / Song of Earth
Warrior Rhythm60Dance of Fury / Song of Vitality
Revenge Rhythm76Dance of Vampire / Song of Vengeance
Renewal Rhythm80Dance of Siren / Song of Renewal

Other Changes to Skills

  • Skills such as Buff Cancel and Buff Steal now affect only characters.
  • The effects of vampiric skills such as Vampiric Rage are now activated by chance, and now apply to basic ranged attacks and skills as well as melee.
  • Reflect Damage skills now apply to basic ranged attacks and power attack skills as well as melee.
  • Some monsters good for party hunting now use a skill that can be threatening to classes other than Knights. Only Knights can deal with the skill well.
  • These skills usable only by a Berserker equipped with an ancient sword can now be used when equipped with a sword, blunt weapon, spear, fist weapon, dual blunt weapons, or dual swords: Dark Smash, Shoulder Charge, Blade Slash, Storm Assault, and Crush of Pain.
  • When the target's level is higher than a debuff's skill level, the success rate of the debuff skill decreases according to the level difference.
  • The following skills no longer require Force Energy: Sonic Blaster, Sonic Storm, Double Sonic Slash, Triple Sonic Slash, Sonic Buster, Force Blaster, Force Buster, Force Storm, and Hurricane Assault.

Transformations

The base stats of most transformations have changed to better suit the character's base stats. Exceptions to this change are special and rare transformations, such as Zaken and Anakim. The visual effect of applying and canceling transformations has changed. If a character cannot use a transformation-specific item, the item's icon is now grayed out and disabled.

Skill Enchanting

A new item, Essence of the Giants, has been added to the game. Upon Awakening, a character's skill enchantments are set to zero, and the character is awarded Skill Points and Essences of the Giants according to the skill enchantment levels the character had before Awakening. Characters who have reached the maximum amount of Skill Points will not receive additional Skill Points.

The NPC Ravidoff in the Reliquary of the Giants can exchange the appropriate number of Essences of the Giants for a Superior Giant's Codex. The appropriate Superior Giant's Codex, Skill Points, and Adena are used to enchant Awakening class skills.

The icons of skills that cannot be enchanted are now highlighted in red.

Item Name Required Essences of the Giants
Superior Giant's Codex2
Superior Giant's Codex - Mastery7
Superior Giant's Codex - Discipline5
Superior Giant's Codex - Oblivion3
Mystery Box of the Giants1

The Mystery Box of the Giants gives a random reward when opened. It could yield one of the four types of Superior Giant's Codex, or it could be empty.

Interface

Character Creation Screen

The character selection screen, which you see after selecting a server, has a new background image. The background now shows the inside of the Museum in Talking Island Village, where new players start the game. The character selection screen now displays a character's Reputation level instead of Karma level.

Character selection screen

The character creation screen has been revamped to make it easier for players to quickly switch between the different race, class type, gender, and appearance options. The models have also been updated with R-grade armor and weapons. When you select a race and class type, information about your selection is displayed. There, you can read lore and characteristics about the race as well as information about the race's basic stats and class type combinations.

Character creation screen

In addition, there is a Class Path button. When you click this button, a pop-up window opens that displays the entire class evolution tree of the race and class type you have selected. You can mouse over the class path steps to learn more about each.

Class path window

The rotate and zoom functions for viewing the character model now move more smoothly. When you choose a name for your character, there is a new function that allows you to check to see if the name is available before you attempt to create the character.

Learn Skill Tab

New skills can now be learned through the Skill window, through a new tab called Learn Skill. When you level up, if there are new skills available for you to learn, an icon that looks like an open book will blink on your screen. Click the icon to go to the Learn Skill tab. There, you will see the following:

  • Skill to be newly learned (lists the skills that you are able to learn for the first time)
  • Skill to be leveled up (lists the skills that you already know but that can be upgraded)
  • Skill to be learned (lists the skills that you can learn when you reach a higher character level)
Learn Skill window

The list of skills you can learn also displays each skill's level, MP cost, cast time, and reuse time. The skills that you cannot yet learn are grayed out, do not display this additional information, and cannot be selected, but their information can still be found in the mouse-over tool tip. In the Active skills tab, skills that you cannot use in your current condition are also grayed out.

When you click a skill to learn it, the Learn Skill window will open. It tells you basic information about what the skill does and how much SP it will cost to learn, as well as what skills must be deleted (if applicable) in exchange for the new skill. Not all skills require the deletion of another skill. Most skills that require you to delete other skills are the ones that you learn upon Awakening, when you trade in your old class's skills for the new class's revamped counterpart skills.

You can learn skills at any time and place through the Learn Skill tab. Because there is no longer a need for characters to return to town to learn skills, class trainer NPCs no longer have the skill training function.

Map Changes

You now have the option to display all teleport routes on the map. When you are viewing the map in full size, check the box at the bottom. When you are viewing the map in small size, click the Tracking button. One-way and two-way teleports are shown in different colors. When the teleport routes display is turned on, the depictions of all peace zones are highlighted on the map for easy spotting.

Map window

A new type of mini-map has been added to the game that allows players to see the different levels of some zones. Each applicable zone is indicated on the main map as a purple zoom-in button. The zones that currently have this map type are Orbis Temple and Monastery of Silence. When viewing the mini-map, you can switch between different floor views through a drop-down menu at the top left.

As before, the map shows icons for Cursed Swords when they are in-game, and gold map pins for steps in a quest. Now, these features have been improved with the addition of the tracking function. Click the Tracking button in the map window to see a new window open. There are tabs for Quests, Cursed Swords, and Raids. When you select something to track from one of these lists, your map will have a gold marker showing you where it is, and you will also see a compass-like ring around your character. The ring is helpful by not only guiding you easily to your quest destination, but also by keeping tabs on the location of a raid boss or Cursed Sword while you are moving or fighting.

Museum

The Museum is a new system that keeps a constant record of the server's overall statistics and of the statistics of every character on the server. The purpose of the Museum is to bring players closer together by letting them see where their characters stand among others and by promoting friendly competition.

Museum interface

The Museum includes both monthly and all-time records for a wide variety of topics. The monthly records are linked to the statue pedestals seen in towns and villages across Aden. Every month, the top character in each topic is depicted as a bronze statue on one of these pedestals.

The Museum's statistics are divided into five main categories: General, Hunting Field, Raid, PvP, and Clan. Within each of those are many sub-categories, for a total of 50 topics, some of which are further divided by grade or class. There is fame to be found regardless of a character's level or playstyle. The Museum keeps records for topics such as the Clan with the most Fame, the character with the highest PvP count, the highest damage to a monster, the most weapon enchant attempts per grade, and the character who has died most often.

The Museum interface can be accessed through the System menu on your screen, or by speaking to the Museum Keeper NPC inside the Museum building in Talking Island Village. In the Museum interface window, there is a View Server Record tab and a View My Record tab. The View My Record tab shows both your total and monthly rankings in all categories. The View Server Record tab shows the total and monthly rankings in all categories of all the server's characters combined. When you view a server record, the list of rankings jumps to your placement on the list.

The system will begin recording statistics when the servers open after being updated to Goddess of Destruction.

Pet Window and More

Pet/Servitor Window

The Pet or Servitor Management window has been expanded and improved. For example, if a Wynn Summoner has four servitors summoned at the same time, all four are displayed in a new arrangement in the servitor interface window.

Situation Buttons on the Radar Map

There is a new icon on the radar map that opens bulletins. At the top right of the radar map is a Situation Information button. When you click this button, you can see the status UI for zone quests, campaigns, and PvP content such as Block Checkers, Aerial Cleft, Underground Coliseum, and Kratei's Cube. A maximum of seven situation information buttons can be displayed.

Inventory Expansion

You now have the option to expand the Inventory window horizontally. The capacity of your inventory has not changed, but the visual expansion allows you to more easily browse through your items.

Warehouse and Store Sorting

A new function has been added to warehouse and private store inventories that causes automatic sorting of the items displayed.

View a Target's Buffs

You are now able to see a target's buffs and debuffs. If a target has a buff or debuff of any kind, it will be displayed to the right of the target window. You can see up to eight buffs or debuffs that you cast on the target, and up to 12 buffs or 24 debuffs that have been cast on the target by others, for a total of 32 effects that can be displayed. The effects are displayed in three rows.

Party Window

The Party window can now have up to seven members, and displays each party member's Vitality information. The layout has also been changed in order to reflect multiple summoned pets or servitors. A servitor's HP and MP information are no longer displayed in the Party window.

Party Tokens

Party leaders can now visually label targets by assigning tokens to them. In the Actions window, the party leader selects one of the four available token icons to apply to a target. Players can simply click the Target Token button in the Actions window in order to target the object with that token. This helps players target more easily during massive raid or PvP events.

Notification Icons

Various notification pop-ups have been added to the game to alert you when important things happen. For example, when a character levels up and can learn new skills, a small blinking open book icon will appear in a window on the screen. Click on the book to go directly to the Learn Skills tab. There are different notification icons for different events: a quest scroll for quest updates, a question mark for tutorial prompts, and so on.

System Menu and Option

The System menu has been expanded and reorganized for easier navigation.

Friend Manager

The Friend List interface has been revamped and renamed the Friend Manager, because it is much more than a list of your friends. Many new functions have been added to help you make friends, keep track of contacts, invite people to your clan, chat with friends, form parties with friends, and more.

The Friend Manager gives you faster access to social actions to perform with your friends:

  • Keep a friend list and block list.
  • Invite friends to your party.
  • Invite friends to your clan and invite clan mates to be friends.
  • Whisper friends or open one-on-one chat windows with them.
  • Send friends mail.
  • Know a friend's level, class, clan, alliance, creation day, and when your friend last logged in.
  • Write a memo about a friend.
  • See a record of all the characters with whom you played in an instance zone in the past week and invite them to be your friends.

The Friend Manager can be found in the System menu. With this change, the Friends tab in the Community window has been removed from the game.

Changes to Options

The Options window has been expanded and reorganized, and some technical terms have been replaced with simpler terms. The Basic Setting button has been added, which restores all settings to default. The Window Location Reset button has been added, which moves interface windows to their default locations.

Video tab

  • A new tab, Damage, has been added.
  • Gamma is now referred to as Brightness.
  • The Effect option has been added, which allows you to adjust the level of detail of visual effects such as skill animations and atmospheric effects.
  • The Texture Filter detail setting, which toggled between smoother or messier detail, has been removed because the smoother setting has been made permanent.

System/Audio tab

  • The Language setting has been removed.
  • The Tracking setting that is found in the Map window can also be found here.
  • The Close Help Window option has been removed.
  • The Hardware Cursor option has been added. This toggles your mouse cursor's appearance between Lineage II style and the default operating system style.
  • New sound volume controls have been added: Total Sound, Environmental, and NPC Voice.
  • The Tutorial Voice volume setting has been removed; it is now an on/off setting.

Game tab

  • The 3D Arrow setting has been renamed Tracking.
  • The Decline Trades and Refuse Friend Requests options have been added.
  • Settings for new screen status information have been added.
  • The option to view a target's casting bar and debuff information has been added.

Screen Status Information

Various new settings have been added to the game in order to allow a player to receive game data in a more visual manner than before. Health gauges, casting gauges, and damage text are now available for display.

Players can now see health gauges above the heads of their own characters, enemies, servitors, and other players as a thin red line. This helps you see the health status of others without having to target them or be in a party with them.

There is also the option to display a casting gauge on screen when a character or a target is casting a skill. This helps with strategic timing in casting skills and in seeing what skills an enemy is casting on you. Settings for the gauges you wish to see displayed can be found in the Options window's Game tab.

Damage text can now be displayed on-screen as a character fights. Numbers appear according to how much damage was done, heal or MP restored, XP gained, and so on. Font color indicates whether the number is related to a positive or negative effect. Some descriptions, such as Evaded or Critical, also appear. The placement of the text indicates what the description is and who it is affecting.

For your character, notifications and positive data are shown on your left: Evade, Parry, HP and MP recovery, XP and SP gain, and Critical hits you receive. Negative data is displayed on your right: damage and Critical Damage, and damage over time that you receive. Data on other characters is generally displayed above each character's avatar.

Damage text can be displayed for your character, your servitors or pets, and enemies. Settings for what and whose damage text you want displayed can be found in the Damage Text tab of the Options window.

Shortcut Key Reassignment

With the addition of various new interface panels, the list of default shortcut commands has been changed. Some changes of note are:

  • The ESC key now closes interface windows and cancels targets in order of the most recent action.
  • Alt + Y now opens the Friend Manager window instead of the MSN Messenger window.

In addition, the Shortcut window has been expanded for easier navigation through shortcut commands.

Video Recording

The Replay feature still exists, but a new video recording feature has been added to the game. Recorded videos are saved as .avi files and are stored in the Screenshots folder of the game installation on your hard drive. To begin recording, click the Start/End Recording button in the Actions window. You can choose what resolution you want your videos filmed in. The resolution you choose will determine the size of the .avi file. Available resolutions are Current, Half, 640x480, and 480x320. You can start and stop recording by using the appropriate button in the interface window. The recording window also has a folder button that takes you directly to your Screenshots folder without exiting the game, but will cause you to switch to windowed mode if you are in fullscreen mode.

New Areas

Magmeld

Magmeld is a region on the eastern side of the continent of Aden. Because it exists in another dimension, Magmeld has only recently been discovered by explorers. Magmeld was created by Einhasad as a utopia for the beautiful and pure creatures that she wanted to keep separated from tainted humanity. Shilen's awakening has allowed evil to seep into all corners of the world—even pure and beautiful Magmeld—and the narrow gap between the dimensions is widening. When the Elven leader Asterios came to Anghel Waterfall, pursuing a prophecy that might lead to the salvation of the dying Mother Tree, he discovered a portal into Magmeld. Now, Magmeld is full of eager explorers.

The large region of Magmeld includes a peace-zone town called the Ancient City of Arcan, as well as numerous outdoor hunting areas and several dungeons such as Fairy Settlement, Garden of Genesis, Prison of Darkness, Orbis Temple, and Fortuna. This zone is suited to high-level characters. The first time characters go to Magmeld, they must enter through the portal behind the Anghel Waterfall. After that, they can come and go through the use of the Gatekeeper in the Ancient City of Arcan.

Ancient City of Arcan

Ancient City of Arcan

The only inhabited settlement in Magmeld, the Ancient City of Arcan is a village of the Cat Clan. After Asterios arrived in search of a cure for the Mother Tree, Dwarves soon followed and set up trade with the new town and area. Now, the town has the same amenities as other towns on the continent.

The Ancient City of Arcan is elevated above a lake fed by magnificent waterfalls. Beneath the lake is the Prison of Darkness dungeon. A beam of light shines from the bottom of the lake up through the center of town. When the town is at peace, the beam of light is blue. When the evil influence from the Prison of Darkness increases, the beam turns red, earthquakes are more frequent, and evil-looking NPCs appear in the center of town. When performing a quest, a character can choose to turn over the quest item to the peaceful NPC or to the evil NPC, and the state of the town will change according to this decision.

Fairy Settlement

Fairy Settlement
Recommended Level90-94
Zone TypeOutdoor Party Hunting

The race of fairies has long existed in the continent of Aden. When Einhasad created Magmeld, she invited the fairies to live there. However, the king of the fairies, Obelius, caused discord between the fairies and the gods, and the invitation to Magmeld was withdrawn. Kimerian was the only fairy leader to speak out against Obelius, and so he and his followers were the only fairies allowed into Magmeld.

Kimerian and his followers live in the Fairy Settlement in Magmeld, among trees and cocoons in the beautiful and magical outdoor area. But Shilen's evil has now reached the Fairy Settlement, driving the fairies to madness, rage, and corruption. Kimerian, the most corrupted, is now a raid boss deep in the settlement, inside a solo-instanced dungeon.

Fairy Settlement is an open and interactive landscape. Blue glowing orbs in various areas on the ground, Wisps, will heal HP and MP if a character stands near them. Cocoons consume zone drop items and open, spawning higher-level monsters that drop items of higher value. At night, the number of powerful monsters increases. A creature named Pan Direm drops an item that grants access to Kimerian's dungeon.

Garden of Genesis

Garden of Genesis
Recommended Level90-94
Zone TypeOutdoor Party Hunting

Of all the wonderful creatures in Magmeld, Einhasad chose her favorites to display as the most beautiful and worthy. The Garden of Genesis was created to house these creatures, some of which are now extinct in other dimensions. However, like the rest of Magmeld, Shilen's evil has caused the creatures to become senseless and violent.

The Garden of Genesis can be reached on foot, through a Gatekeeper in the Ancient City of Arcan, or by using Sayune outside of the town. The area is a series of four elevated tiers, each containing a garden. The four areas are divided by altitude and are connected by bridges. Within the gardens, stone walls create further division, and are filled with plants and plant-like creatures. The highest garden tier is home to the raid boss Apherus. The ground area below and surrounding the elevated gardens is an open field.

Various creatures in the gardens and in the field have special behaviors:

  • Some creatures that wish destruction of the garden will follow Outdoor Gardener monsters for protection if they are attacked.
  • Each of the three lowest gardens has a raid boss that can be summoned through the central landmark in that area.
  • Certain vines and plants in the gardens have different behavior during the day than they do at night. Some help adventurers, some hinder them.
  • In each of the three lowest gardens, a Garden Watcher moves along the perimeter and randomly sets up two types of harmful traps.
  • One monster may spawn another monster if certain of its skills go unchecked.

Prison of Darkness

Prison of Darkness
Recommended Level90-94
Zone TypeSolo or Party Hunting Instanced Dungeon

In the pure land of Magmeld, Gran Kain's trickery allowed some lesser beings to exist. Einhasad decreed that these flawed beings be separated from her favorite ones, and ordered them to be sent to a penal colony. One of the prisoners, Spezion, rebelled against this order. When his rebellion failed, he was sentenced to the Prison of Darkness, where he is pinned by bars of light at the center of the prison. The Prison of Darkness has become a dark place that manifests Spezion's pain and anger in the twisted creatures that populate the dungeon.

After completing an entry quest, characters can enter the Prison of Darkness through the Gatekeeper in the Ancient City of Arcan. Inside, solo or party characters can hunt the monsters in the area. If characters find a specific item on the monsters, the monsters in the dungeon are transformed into more challenging monsters with a higher chance of dropping the item necessary to entering the Spezion raid.

Orbis Temple

Orbis Temple
Recommended Level95-99
Zone TypeParty Hunting Instanced Dungeon

Einhasad's daughter, the Angel Paulina, built this temple. When the temple was complete, Paulina returned to the Realm of Light. Soon after Paulina's departure, Orbis Temple fell prey to Shilen's increasing evil influence, wielded by rebels banished from Magmeld. The slumbering heroes within the temple began to awaken, one by one, corrupted by Shilen's evil into raging madness.

Orbis Temple can be entered on foot or by talking to a Gatekeeper in the Ancient City of Arcan. Some of the zone's handicaps, such as the Orbis Curse, can be used to your benefit. Orbis Temple is composed of three floors with many rooms and grand corridors, including the instanced Octavis raid, which takes place in a gigantic, gladiator-style arena.

Orbis Temple is a Quest Zone that is initiated when characters enter the temple in a party.

Fortuna

Fortuna
Recommended Level90-99
Zone TypeParty Hunting Instanced Dungeon

Fortuna was the base of Spezion's rebellion against Einhasad. After he was defeated and sentenced to the Prison of Darkness, Fortuna became haunted by the restless spirits of Spezion's followers. Presently, Fortuna is a stronghold of the fallen hero Ron and his followers, who were banished from Orbis Temple.

A group of seven characters of level 90 or above is required for entry into Fortuna. Entry can be acquired by speaking with Izael in the Ancient City of Arcan. Fighting in Fortuna is done in nine stages, each with its own boss monster. The instanced dungeon resets at 6:30 a.m. (server time) every morning.

Other New Areas

Altar of Evil

Recommended Level85-87
Zone TypeSolo Hunting Area

Shilen's blood rained down on the world and sickened the continent. The followers of Shilen, who gathered in the Dark Elf Village to worship her, built the Altar of Evil at a site where the blood tore the fabric of the dimensions and created a rift. There, they waited for the coming of the Disciples of Darkness.

The Altar of Evil is west of the Dark Elf Village. At night, all monsters at the Altar of Evil are more powerful than during the day. The raid boss Stygian Queen sometimes appears here at night.

Shilen's Altar

Recommended Level95-99
Zone TypeParty Hunting Instanced Dungeon

The Goddess of Destruction awakened when the seven seals imprisoning her were removed by the Embryo cult, an organization dedicated to the resurrection of Shilen. To complete an avatar that can hold Shilen's soul, the cult built a gigantic altar that absorbs energy from offerings sent from the Catacombs and Necropolis.

The dungeon can only be entered when a character has a specific campaign quest active. A group of seven characters can enter Shilen's Altar at once. The dungeon comprises three levels of rooms and ramps leading down. This path must be travelled three times, each time harder than the last, before characters finally emerge into the large room that contains the altar itself. There, the raid boss twins Maliss and Isadora can be found.

Balthus Knights: Antharas Expedition

Recommended Level90-99
Zone TypeInstanced Dungeon Raid

When the lunar influence shifted after the arrival of the Dark Moon, the kingdom of Aden detected suspicious movements by the dragon Antharas and dispatched an expeditionary force to investigate. With the help of Antharas Watcher Theodric, it has become possible to dispatch many men quickly to Antharas's Lair.

On the 1st and the 15th of every month, this instanced dungeon may be entered by characters in a raid force of 14 to 35 characters by talking to Theodric at the entrance of Antharas's Lair.

Talking Island

As Shilen awoke, she used her powers to pull the floating island Ye Sagira from the sky and hurl it down toward the continent of Aden. Ye Sagira landed on Talking Island, shattering into countless pieces and devastating the island. Now, the geography of Talking Island is much changed. It remains a low-level newbie area, and it is the site of the revamped newbie quest series. Talking Island Village has been rebuilt as a magnificent town with every kind of shop and store.

Talking Island Village

Talking Island Village

The original Talking Island Village was destroyed when Ye Sagira smashed into the island. As the other races' villages were also destroyed or abandoned, all of the races came together to rebuild Talking Island Village. The ruins of the original village can be glimpsed in a steep valley just outside the new village. The new Talking Island Village is the starting place for new characters of all races. A revamped newbie quest series begins here and guides new characters through basic tutorials around the island.

Some places of note in Talking Island Village:

  • The Administration Office: Race-specific NPCs can be found here. They provide characters with class transfers, newbie items and quests, and some general game tips and guides.
  • The Museum: Although the Museum feature can be viewed through an interface panel in the main menu, the Museum building in Talking Island Village is its headquarters. Statues of characters can be found both inside the Museum building and just outside the main entrance to the village.
  • Kookaru Handler: A girl standing near the entrance to Talking Island Village offers a free ride on a mechanical bird so that characters can explore and travel across the island quickly.
  • Town Square: The center of Talking Island Village is populated with shops and NPCs of all kinds.
  • Gatekeepers: There are two Gatekeepers in Talking Island Village. One is in the Town Square; he teleports characters to Ye Sagira once they have unlocked that area by traveling there on foot. The other Gatekeeper is east of the Museum; she can teleport characters to the main Aden continent.

Ye Sagira

Ye Sagira
Recommended Level1-20
Zone TypeSolo Hunting

Ye Sagira once held the Royal Palace of Ye Sagira, home to King Harnak of the Giants. It was a shining symbol of the Giants' advanced technology, as evidenced by the glowing glyphs and mysteriously shaped stone constructions. After the war between the Giants and the gods, the city was abandoned, but it is rumored that many relics and technology of the Giants' era remained inside. Now that Ye Sagira has been shattered across Talking Island, explorers from far and wide have come to study the ruins. It was the study of these ruins that brought a population to the island and allowed the reconstruction of Talking Island Village.

The ruins of Ye Sagira are split into five exploration zones. Characters can move between these zones in numbered order by using red teleport devices to move forward and blue teleport devices to move backward. The whole area is involved in the newbie quest series.

Labyrinth of Belis

Labyrinth of Belis
Recommended Level18-20
Zone TypeSolo Instanced Dungeon

Harnak, the last king of the Giants, had a beautiful queen named Belis. Harnak was jealous, and he constructed a labyrinth to protect his wife from any person who might gaze upon her with desire. Despite this, Gran Kain managed to find Belis and seduce her. In a rage, Harnak murdered Belis and secluded himself in an underground sanctuary. Now, the Labyrinth of Belis is overrun by deadly agents of the Embryo cult, who seek to empower Shilen and bring destruction.

The Labyrinth of Belis is the site for the portion of the newbie quest series that brings a character to the first class transfer. When on this quest, a character may enter the labyrinth by speaking to Sebion in the Ye Sagira ruins. Inside, the character is guided through the different rooms by a helpful NPC. Although the path through the dungeon is very clear, each room has a different challenge that the character must overcome in order to continue. When the dungeon boss is killed, the quest is complete.

Harnak Underground Ruins

Harnak Underground Ruins
Recommended Level85-90
Zone TypeParty Hunting Dungeon

After losing his queen, King Harnak wasted away in his underground sanctuary in the lower levels of the Ye Sagira Royal Palace. Although Harnak is long since dead, his presence haunts the dungeon.

Harnak Underground Ruins can be entered by speaking to Hadel in Exploration Zone 1 of Ye Sagira. The dungeon comprises three floors with eight chambers each. A teleport device in the center of the dungeon allows characters to move between the three floors. The second and third floors contain seals, which can be broken in order to summon more creatures, culminating in the appearances of raid bosses Harnak's Wraith and Harnak's Evil Spirit.

Seals are broken by using certain items that drop from monsters in the dungeon. When a seal breaks, the character receives additional buffs while Noctum and Demonic Noctum monsters appear in the chamber. When all the seals on a floor are broken and all the Noctum and Demonic Noctum monsters are killed, the raid boss Harnak's Wraith or Harnak's Evil Spirit will appear, depending on which floor's seals were broken.

This dungeon is also a Quest Zone.

New Items

Armor Properties and Set Effects

R-grade and higher armor items have additional offensive properties, which are more effective the more highly the item is enchanted.

Armor Slot Armor Property
HeadIncreased P. Evasion and M. Evasion
ChestIncreased P. Atk. and M. Atk.
LegsIncreased P. Critical Rate and M. Critical Rate
HandsIncreased P. Accuracy and M. Accuracy
FeetIncreased Spd.

Armor set effects for R-grade or higher items can now apply at varying levels according to how many items from the set are equipped. If a character is equipped with two armor items of the same armor series, those items receive a bonus. Another bonus is applied if four armor items from the same series are equipped.

Armor of R-grade or higher has varying set effects, depending on the number of pieces equipped. Armor set effects apply as long as the items are of the same armor series, regardless of whether some are Bound, some are Standard, or some are Blessed. A character can equip a cloak as long as chest armor is already equipped. If a character equips a shield, the character gets the shield's effects regardless of what other armor he or she is wearing.

There are three versions of each kind of R-grade armor set, which players can choose from in some situations. The basic version is the basic armor with no extra stats. Heavy armor has Attack and Defense versions. Light armor has Assassin and Enhance versions, and Robe has Magic and Recovery versions. Armor sets offer different effects, depending on the armor version.

Auction House

Auction House

We have added an Auction House to the game. It is a server-wide sales system that allows a character to put a tradable item up for sale to other characters. The item is kept in the Auction House and is up for sale even while the seller is not online. The item stays up for sale until it is bought by another character, or the sales time expires. Sellers can list items for any price they choose. When a buyer purchases an item, the Auction House transfers the item into the buyer's inventory and transfers the payment to the seller.

The Sales tab allows you to easily find an item you want to buy. You can browse for items by searching for item quality, item grade, and keyword. All of the items that match your search are displayed in a list. You can sort the list by item name, grade, quantity (useful when searching for stackable items), and price. You can also browse items by category. If your inventory or weight capacity is too full to receive an item you purchase, you must make room in your inventory before you can make the purchase.

The Registration tab allows you to put your own items up for sale. From a display of the items in your inventory that can be sold through the Auction House, you select the item you want to sell, decide on a price, and decide how many days you want to leave the item up for sale. The item goes on sale right away. The longest you can leave an item up for sale is seven days, but each day adds to the registration fee (0.5% of the sales price) that you must pay to the Auction House. The Registration tab also shows a list of items you currently have up for sale. When someone purchases an item from your list, you receive the purchase amount by in-game mail. If your item is not purchased by the time its registration period expires, the item is returned to you. If you change your mind, you can remove an item from sale and the item will be moved back into your inventory. The registration fee is not refundable. If your inventory or weight capacity is too full to receive the item you removed from sale, you must make room in your inventory before you can retrieve the item.

The Auction House can be accessed by speaking to a Trade Broker NPC in any major city. While a character has an item registered at the Auction House, the character cannot be deleted or transferred to a different server.

New Item System

A Common item will become an Unidentified item in Goddess of Destruction. All R-grade or higher items are Unidentified when first obtained. To use an item, a character must double-click on the Unidentified item. The Unidentified item then changes into a Bound, Standard, or Blessed item at random. The four item conditions have different conditions and restrictions.

  • Unidentified: The item's name is displayed, but not its quality level. It cannot be equipped or altered with enchantments. It can be traded, dropped, and sold.
  • Bound: The item is bound to the character who obtained it. It cannot be traded, mailed, dropped, or sold to other characters, but can be sold to NPC shops. It can be enchanted, augmented, and given special abilities and attributes. R-grade Bound items can be converted into Standard items by using Unbind Scrolls sold by special NPCs. However, a Bound item cannot be unbound if it has been augmented. All other alterations made to a Bound item (enchantment, special abilities, attributes, and armor set effects) remain with the item when it is converted to a Standard item. Bound items can also be converted into Standard items through the Blacksmith of Mammon. Bound items cannot be turned into PvP items.
  • Standard: The item can be traded, dropped, and sold. It can be enchanted, augmented, and given special abilities and attributes.
  • Blessed: The item can be traded, dropped, and sold. It can be enchanted, augmented, and given special abilities and attributes. Blessed items get the highest stat boost when enchanted.

Unbind Scrolls

Unbind Scrolls only apply to R-grade items. Unbind Scrolls for the different levels of R-grade can be found in different areas:

  • Unbind Scroll - R-Grade: Istina Raid
  • Unbind Scroll - R95-Grade: Octavis Raid
  • Unbind Scroll - R99-Grade: Istina and Octavis extreme-level raids

New Items

A large number of R-grade accessories, potions, and other items have been added to the game.

  • Earrings, rings, and necklaces: There is a new set of earrings, rings, and necklaces for each of the four R-grade and higher armor sets: Immortal, Twilight, Seraph, and Eternal. These, like the armor, are in the Unidentified state when obtained, and become Bound, Standard, or Blessed upon identification. Upgrading a rare accessory resets its enchant value to 0.
  • R-grade and higher shirts: Shirts automatically give your character a boost in P. Def, but some shirts also boost your HP, MP, or CP. The shirts currently available are Immortal, Twilight, and Seraph. They can be acquired by spending Territory Badges, Reputation, or Adena at a Territory Manager NPC in any town.
  • R-grade and higher bracelets: There are four crafted bracelets, to match the four new R-grade and higher armor sets: Immortal, Twilight, Seraph, and Eternal. The bracelets each give an MP boost and open up slots for five talismans.
  • R-grade talismans: These talismans can be purchased from an Adventurer Guildsman NPC with seals obtained as rewards from certain instanced dungeons. It is also possible to purchase them from supply captains as rewards for PvP activities such as castle and fortress sieges.
  • R-grade and higher belts: Some belts can be crafted, and others can only be obtained as drops by certain monsters. The belts that are craftable can also be enhanced with magic rune clips and magic ornaments. These may be added to a belt by speaking to a Territory Manager.
  • R-grade Life Stones and Accessory-type Life Stones: These newly added Life Stones are not divided by level, but rather by grade.
  • R-grade dyes and tattoos: These can be used by any character who has completed the fourth-class transfer, regardless of his or her class. R-grade dyes can be purchased from the Questionable Dye Merchant standing next to the Symbol Maker in each village, or obtained as a PvP reward.
  • R-grade Elixirs of Life, Mental Strength, CP and Blessing: These can be used by a character of level 85 or higher. Elixirs of Blessing give an Awakened character the following buffs for 30 minutes: Horn Melody, Guitar Melody, Pipe Organ Melody, Lute Melody, and Harp Melody. The reuse time for an Elixir of Blessing is two minutes. Elixirs of Blessing can be crafted.

Other new jewelry items for each territory are now available as rewards for participating in Territory Wars. These include rings, earrings, and necklaces offering a variety of stat boosts depending on the item.

A new arrow supply system has been added to the game. Characters can now purchase Infinite Quivers or Infinite Bolt Containers, which contain an endless supply of arrows or bolts, respectively. Conventional arrows can still be used, but they can no longer be obtained by hunting monsters. Quivers and bolt containers can be purchased from Grocer NPCs in any town except for Talking Island Village. The quiver and container names differ according to the item grade:

Grade Quiver / Bolt Container Name
No gradeInfinite Wooden Quiver
D-gradeInfinite Bone Quiver / Bolt Container
C-gradeInfinite Steel Quiver / Bolt Container
B-gradeInfinite Silver Quiver / Bolt Container
A-gradeInfinite Mithril Quiver / Bolt Container

Aden Donation System

In the wake of the destruction caused by Shilen's awakening, the land and the people of Aden have suffered greatly. Adventurers are asked to donate what they can to ease the plight of the people and to help rebuild the beautiful and proud land of Aden. As thanks for their donations, adventurers can receive certain rewards. Visit Moe in Giran or Eeny in Talking Island Village to make a donation.

As reward for a donation of 50,000 Adena and certain required amounts of basic crafting materials and D-, C-, or B-grade crystals, characters receive a Treasure Chest. As reward for a donation of a combination of A-, S-, or R-grade crystals and gemstones, characters receive a Hero's Treasure Chest.

New Raid Boss Items

With the increased difficulty of epic raid bosses and the addition of new epic raid bosses to the game, new raid boss items are now available.

The Blessed Earring of Antharas and the Blessed Earring of Valakas can now be acquired by trading with NPC Rafforty at the Ice Merchant Cabin. These blessed items are R-grade and their stats are higher than those of their counterparts, the Earring of Antharas and the Necklace of Valakas.

R-Grade and Higher Items

R-grade is the new item grade for characters of level 85 and above. New armor and weapon sets are assigned different levels of R-grade. For images of the new armor, visit the Goddess of Destruction preview site.

Grade Level Armor Weapon
R-grade85ImmortalRequiem
TwilightApocalypse
R95-grade95SeraphSpecter
R99-grade99EternalAmaranthine

There are no R-grade or higher Kamael exclusive weapons. Awakened Kamaels can equip all R-grade and higher armor, including robes and light and heavy armor. All races can freely equip R-grade weapons. Also, all R-grade armor items have specific looks for each race, character type, and gender.

There are no R-grade or higher two-handed blunt weapons, and dual blunt weapons have been added. R-grade dual swords, dual daggers, and dual blunt weapons can be crafted by using low S-grade one-handed swords, one-handed blunt weapons, and daggers. R-grade or higher items cannot be turned into PvP items.

Infinity weapons have been added to the game for Heroes from the Olympiad, which can be used at level 85 or higher. Characters can choose the items they wish, regardless of their class. The character keeps the weapon as long as he or she is a Hero, and it disappears when the character ceases to be a Hero. Infinity weapons, like Olympiad cloaks, cannot be equipped during Olympiad matches.

Cloaks

New cloaks have been added to the game. Eight are the class-specific cloaks for each Awakening class, which a character receives at the moment of Awakening. A class-specific cloak can only be equipped by a character of that class. An Olympiad Hero cloak and two Cloaks of Honor have been added for the first-, second-, and third-ranking characters of each month's Olympiad competition.

Olympiad and PvP

Fame

Fame is a preexisting point system that encourages sanctioned PvP activity. By participating in various sanctioned PvP activities, a character can accumulate points and spend the points on a large selection of items. In Goddess of Destruction, the Fame system has been boosted to make it easier to use and more rewarding. The maximum amount of Fame points a character can accumulate is now 20,000,000 points (the previous maximum was 100,000 points).

The points awarded for sanctioned PvP activities have been increased ten-fold. The new amounts are as follows:

  • Castle sieges: 1,250 points
  • Territory wars: 1,250 points
  • Fortress battles: 310 points
  • Clan Hall takeover battles at Bandit Stronghold, Devastated Castle, Fortress of the Dead, and Wild Beast Reserve: 750 points
  • Clan Hall battle at Fortress of Resistance: 190 points
  • Underground Coliseum: 800 points for a single win, and 10 times the previous reward given for each consecutive win

New and changed items that can be purchased with Fame points:

  • Territory Manager
    • R-grade and higher Underwear and Belts, normal or with the option of attaching an ornament
    • Rune clips and magic ornaments that imbue R-grade items such as belts
    • Top-grade protective accessories for each territory
  • Fortress Support Unit Captain
    • Dyes for Awakened characters
    • R-grade talismans
  • Grand Olympiad Manager
    • R-grade and higher equipment
    • Superior Giant's Codexes of all types
  • Reputation Manager
    • New: R-grade Weapon Enchant Scroll
    • New: R-grade Armor Enchant Scroll
    • New: R-grade Elixirs of Life, both normal and Greater
    • New: R-grade Elixirs of Mental Strength, both normal and Greater
    • New: R-grade Elixirs of CP, both normal and Greater

Olympiad Tokens can now be converted into Fame points.

PK count can now be reduced by 1 in exchange for 500,000 Fame points.

Clan Reputation

The amount of Fame points needed to convert into Clan Reputation points has changed to 10,000 points (the previous amount was 1,000 points). As before, a clan must be level 5 or higher to participate in castle sieges or territory wars. A clan that registers with one of those activities now receives one Clan Reputation point every five minutes during the siege or war period. If a clan is registered and actually partakes in the activity, each clan member also receives Fame points.

Clan Merchants Ilia, in Aden, and Mulia, in Rune, now sell Blood Oath for 500 Clan Reputation points and Blood Alliance for 20,000 Clan Reputation points. These items are required in raising a clan from level 9 to level 10.

Olympiad Changes

The Olympiad is now restricted to characters of level 85 or above who have completed their fourth class transfer by Awakening. Once each week, every eligible character will receive 10 Olympiad points, and the number of matches each character has done is reset. Each character can take part in up to 50 matches each week. Players are now matched against opponents of similar capabilities. Olympiad matches now take place from 6 p.m. to 12 midnight (server time) on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, instead of every day. The schedule of available match types has also changed.

Olympiad Heroes

Because now only Awakened characters can participate in the Olympiad, the number of Heroes inaugurated each month has changed to eight, one for each Awakened class.

The duration of the Hero Inauguration effect has increased.

New R-grade Hero weapons have been added to the game. All previous Hero weapons have been removed.

All Hero weapons have an increase in Max HP, MP, CP, Atk. Spd., Casting Spd., and PvP damage. In addition, fighter Hero weapons get a P. Critical Rate boost, and magic Hero weapons get an Acumen boost that stacks with the included Casting Spd. increase.

When a Hero is inaugurated, the Hero's clan now receives 5,000 Clan Reputation points.

New Hero cloaks have been added to the game:

  • A Hero's cloak for the Hero in each character class
  • Cloaks of Honor for the 2nd and 3rd runners-up in each character class

Both kinds of cloak have an increase in Max HP and CP, and M. Def. +50.

PvP and Reputation

The Karma system has been removed from the game, and the Reputation system has been added to replace it. The Reputation system is a sliding scale in which positive levels make a character Lawful, and negative levels make a character Chaotic.

Chaotic characters:

  • A character is Chaotic when that character's Reputation level is negative.
  • A Chaotic character's name appears in red.
  • Every PK a Chaotic character performs gains that character a negative Reputation point.
  • When hunting and completing quests, Chaotic characters do not gain XP or SP, but they do gain Reputation points. This is the only way Chaotic characters can gain Reputation points. When a character is no longer Chaotic (when that character's Reputation level reaches zero), hunting and completing quests give XP and SP but not Reputation points.
  • If a Chaotic character dies, that character's Reputation points are not affected.
  • If a Chaotic character has a PK count of 31 or higher, the character receives an item drop penalty. As part of this penalty, augmented weapons will drop without the augmentation.
  • When a Chaotic character dies, that character loses more XP than a non-Chaotic character does.

Lawful characters:

  • A character is Lawful when that character's Reputation level is positive.
  • When a Lawful character's Reputation level is above zero, that character's name appears in green.
  • When a Lawful character kills a Chaotic character, the Lawful character's Reputation level increases by 360 points.
  • When a Lawful character kills a character who is 10 or more levels below the Lawful character, no Reputation points are gained even if the character killed is Chaotic.
  • A Lawful character can only receive Reputation points for killing the same Chaotic character once in any 8 hour period.
  • If a Lawful character's PK count is 30 or lower, that character's Reputation level will become zero if the character PKs again. At zero, a character is neither Lawful nor Chaotic.
  • If a Lawful character's PK count is 31 or higher, that character will immediately become Chaotic and the character's Reputation points become negative proportionally to PK count.

Characters who wish to lower their PK count can do so by spending Individual Fame points at a Reputation Manager NPC. The former method of lowering PK count through the Repent Your Sins quest has been removed from the game.

The arena for Duels and Party Duels has also changed.

Parties, Vitality, and XP

Changes to Vitality and XP

Vitality

Previously, characters each had their own Vitality. Now, Vitality is shared across all characters on the same account and the same server. Regardless of what character you play, you will have a limited amount of Vitality each week.

Vitality will be refilled during every regular weekly maintenance. Vitality no longer increases while you are in a peace zone or are logged out of the game.

You may use five Vitality items per week. (As of February 8, 2012, you may use seven Vitality items per week.) Vitality items affected by the weekly limit include Vitality maintaining, replenishing, and refilling potions, among others. Some special items, such as Birthday Cakes, are not affected by the weekly limit.

The four Vitality stages no longer exist. Now, when a character has any Vitality at all, that character's XP gain is 200%. Raid monsters no longer award Vitality. Vitality herbs have been removed from the game.

When hunting, while you have Vitality remaining, the chance of monsters dropping Weapon Pouches, Armor Pouches, and Enchant Pouches increases. When hunting in a party, the number of party members who have Vitality remaining further increases that chance.

The Recommendation system remains mostly the same as before. The only change is that your current Recommendation value now decreases by 5 recommendations per day instead of by 20.

The Nevit's Blessing system has been removed from the game. The Nevit's Blessing interface window is gone, and the Priest of Blessing no longer sells Nevit items. Existing Nevit's Hourglasses are removed at the launch of Goddess of Destruction, and any attained after launch will give a 50% XP bonus. Any other remaining Nevit items in a character's possession will not be deleted, but their effects may have been altered. Nevit's Voice now increases a character's Recommendation level by 10 and gives 100,000 Adena when used.

Changes to XP

The character level cap has increased from 85 to 99. The amount of XP necessary for characters of level 20 through 85 to level up has been reduced.

A character of level 84 or lower will not gain XP or SP from killing a monster that is 11 or more levels higher or lower than the character's level. A character of level 85 or higher will receive an XP/SP penalty when hunting monsters that are three or more levels higher or lower than the character's level. The penalty increases proportionally to the level difference.

Mentoring System

The Mentoring System is a great way to level up in Lineage II!

Characters level 1 and higher can arrange a Mentoring contract with a character on the same server that is Awakened. The contract-bound characters gain powerful XP-boosting buffs when both Mentor and Mentee are logged in at the same time.

This page explains all about the Mentoring System, but you can also find this information in-game by speaking to a Mentor Guide NPC in any major town.

Powerful Level 85+ Buffs that are better than any other buffs before Awakening! Both Mentor and Mentee automatically receive a useful buff when both characters are logged in.

Mentor receives:

  • Mentee's Appreciation Mentee's Appreciation: Your acquired XP and SP is increased by 10%.

Please note that, although a Mentor can have up to 3 Mentees at a time, the buff only applies once.

Mentee receives:

  • Mentor's Horn Melody Mentor's Horn Melody Lv 1: Increases P. Atk. by 17%, P. Def, by 15%, M. Atk. by 79%, and M. Def. by 30%.

Please note that Mentees can only receive these buffs when playing on their main class. They cannot receive these buffs when playing a subclass.

Who Can Be a Mentor or a Mentee?

To be eligible to become a Mentor, a character must be Awakened. Mentees are characters who are below level 86 and who have a Mentee Certificate. A Mentee cannot also be a Mentor.

A Mentor can take on a maximum of three Mentees at the same time. A Mentee can only have one Mentor.

How to Get a Mentee Certificate

Currently, the Mentee Certificate is only available through the level 40 item pack in the Path to Awakening, but we may offer another way to obtain it in the future.

Claim Dimensional Item
  1. Level up a character to level 40.
  2. Upon reaching level 40, visit the Path to Awakening page and log in. You can do this without logging out of the game.
  3. Select the server and character that reached level 40.
  4. At the bottom of the page, click Claim Reward on the line for Level 40. Please note that characters that reached level 40 before Goddess of Destruction launched are not eligible to receive the Level 40 pack from the Path to Awakening.
  5. In-game, take your level 40 character to a Dimensional Merchant NPC in any major town. They are listed on the town map for easy finding.
  6. Talk to the Dimensional Merchant and click on Retrieve a Dimensional Item.
  7. You will see a list of the items you claimed from the Path to Awakening. Click on the Mentee Certificate to retrieve it.

Creating a Mentoring Contract

Mentee Instructions: Only an aspiring Mentor can initiate a Mentoring Contract. Characters that are looking to become a Mentee can advertise that they are looking for a Mentor by shouting in a town, asking their clan, or posting on the forums. Once you find an eligible Mentor, have them invite you into the Mentoring Contract. When they invite you, you will see an invitation window. Click Accept to create the contract.

Mentoring invitation window

Mentor Instructions: A contract can only be created when both characters are logged in. To create a Mentoring Contract, the aspiring Mentor must do the following:

  1. Open your System Menu, then the Friend Manager, and click on the Mentoring tab.
  2. Click on the + button to add a Mentee.
  3. Enter the name of the eligible Mentee (a character below level 86 that has a Mentee Certificate) into the Character Name box, and click Add to list. This sends a Mentoring invitation to that character.
  4. When that character accepts the invitation, they officially become your Mentee, and you become their Mentor. As you are both logged in, you both immediately receive the beneficial buffs from the Mentoring Contract.

Both Mentor and Mentee are free to cancel the contract at any time. After a contract is canceled, the Mentor is unable to make a contract with a new Mentee for seven days. A Mentee receives no penalty for cancelling a contract; the Mentee can accept a new contract immediately.

Mentoring tab of the Friend Manager window

Please note that the Mentoring tab of the Friend Manager window is only visible to characters who are eligible to be Mentors, and to Mentees who are in a Mentoring contract.

Mentee Marks

Mentors can help Mentees level up and earn rewards at certain level-range milestones. Specifically, at level 40, then level 50, and then every level after that, Mentors receive a varying amount of Mentee's Marks in their mailboxes. Mentors can use Mentee's Marks to buy various items from the Mentor Guide NPC. Available items include but are not limited to:

  • Hair Accessory Life Stone
  • Soul Crystal Changing Stones A- through R95-grade
  • Attribute Changing Crystals S- through R99-grade
  • Enchant Armor and Enchant Weapon Stones, which improve your odds of successful item enchantment
  • Super 60 and Super 150 Attribute Stones of all elements
  • Enchant Weapon and Enchant Armor scrolls of all grades
  • Superior Giant's Codex
  • Elixir of Blessing
  • Mentor's mystery box

Graduation

A Mentee graduates from the mentoring contract when the character reaches level 86. At that time, the contract is concluded. The recent Mentee is eligible to create a Mentoring contract five days after Awakening. Recent Mentees can exchange their Mentee Certificates for 40 Diplomas by speaking to Mentor Guide NPCs, which can be found in all major towns. Diplomas are used to purchase R-grade items from the Mentor Guide NPC.

Newbie Experience

The new player experience has been revamped to make it easier for new players to learn to play, level up, and receive weapons, armor and Adena up to level 40. This is done by guiding the character through a new quest series that includes a tutorial as well as an introduction to the story of Goddess of Destruction.

Newbie Guides remain in the game, but they no longer provide newbie items and can only be found in Talking Island Village, Gludin, and Gludio. To receive newbie buffs, you no longer need to talk to the Newbie Guide and ask for the buffs; now, you can simply walk up to Newbie Guides in town and they will buff you automatically when you are close enough.

When characters reach level 40, they receive a guidebook in their inventory. The guidebook recommends good XP locations and related daily quests (if any) for every level range up to 85. At level 85, characters receive another guidebook that gives information on the hunting zones appropriate for levels 85 through 99.

Party Replacement System

The Party Replacement system has been added to the game to make it easier to add players to ongoing parties if original members have to leave. The system checks the applicant character's level and class and automatically recommends compatible characters to a party leader looking for a replacement.

Looking for a party as a replacement:

  1. When you log in to Goddess of Destruction, you will see a small Matching Party interface window, with a loading animation and a Stop button. As long as this window is open, you are in the queue to be automatically placed in a party when a spot becomes available.
  2. To remove yourself from the queue, click the Stop button. The window will disappear.
  3. To join the queue again, open your Actions window and click the Start/Stop Automatic Party Search icon.
  4. When a party is found, the Matching Party window will turn into a party request window. The request will tell you the party's location and type (hunting, raid, etc.) and what role you are to fill.
  5. If you accept the party invitation, you will immediately be teleported to the party leader. The party member you are replacing has three minutes to leave the party, unless the party leader orders the replacement to happen immediately. When the departing character leaves, you enter the party.

Replacing a party member:

  1. Only the party leader can initiate the party member replacement process.
  2. To replace a party member, click on the small icon at the top right of that character's name in the party window. This flags that character as being replaceable by another character of a similar level and class. The Matching Party window will appear, with a loading animation and a Stop button.
  3. When the system has found a character who fits the role and is looking for a party, the Matching Party window will disappear while it invites that character to join your party. If the character rejects the invitation, you will see a system message notification in the chat window. To continue looking for a replacement, you must re-register the character you wish to replace.
  4. If the replacement character accepts the invitation, that character is teleported to you immediately (as long as you are both in a zone where the Party Replacement system can be used). A new window appears saying that a replacement has been found and the switch will take place in three minutes, or as soon as the departing character has left. You have the option of forcing the switch to take place immediately, regardless of the timer or of whether the departing character is still in the party. You can do this by clicking the Immediate Replacement button.

After a replacement occurs, all party members receive some useful buffs:

  • Momentary Invincibility: Invincible for 10 seconds
  • Increased Concentration: Increase in Exp. gained by 3% for 10 minutes

The Party Replacement system cannot be used in the following situations:

  • You are in a World Raid Boss area.

Quests

Campaigns

A campaign is a server-wide quest that offers a significant XP reward. Unlike most quests, which can only be acquired by speaking directly to an NPC, campaigns are announced in a server message, and characters who meet the campaign's participation requirements may choose whether or not to take part. To take part in a campaign, players with eligible characters can click the Campaign button displayed on screen, then click the Participate button. When the campaign's goal is reached, every participant receives a reward, and depending on the campaign, characters who rank highly are given additional rewards.

Campaigns can begin at any time during designated hours, and different campaigns may begin on different servers simultaneously. The goal of a campaign may vary depending on the number of players logged onto the server. Characters may obtain Marks of a King and Marks of a Lord for participating in campaigns, which can be traded for items through Royal Token Exchanger Conrad in Aden.

Quest Zones

A Quest Zone is a location that offers a timed quest in which all parties in the zone work toward a common goal. The current Quest Zone areas are Orbis Temple and Harnak Underground Ruins. When a party enters a Quest Zone, the quest is automatically accepted by every player. Players can check their quest progress by clicking the Quest Zone interface window at the top of the screen. The quest stops automatically when a participant leaves the zone, but it can be continued at its current progress point if the participant returns before the quest's or a particular quest step's time limit runs out.

The Harnak Underground Ruins quest has a time limit of three hours to complete. It gives a basic reward, a 3-day Demon Circlet, and a reward for high-ranking participants, a 3-day Chic Silver Chapeau.

The Orbis Temple quest occurs in six 30-minute steps. If all of the Orbis Temple quest steps are completed within the time limit, every participating character receives an Orbis Supporting Reward Box, and may receive an additional reward box depending on the character's contribution level during the quest. The basic Orbis Supporting Reward Box contains some guaranteed rewards and may include additional items at random.

Seven Signs

In order to regain power by absorbing their blood, Shilen initiated the sacrifice of creatures inside Catacombs and Necropolises across Aden, leaving behind a deathly aura. King Amadeo ordered that the entrances to all Catacombs and Necropolises be shut, to keep adventurers out and to keep the deadly auras in. When these dungeons were shut down, the Seven Signs quest cycle ground to a halt and the following changes were made:

  • The effects of the Seals of Avarice, Gnosis, and Strife no longer apply.
  • The maximum tax rate of the castle is fixed at 15%.
  • Elite mercenaries can no longer be hired or posted with Seals of Strife.
  • The siege function management cost is no longer affected by Seals.
  • Characters can no longer enter the Festival of Darkness and the Dimensional Rift instances.
  • The Anakim and Lilith raids are no longer available.
  • Scrolls of Ancient Magic that could be obtained from Catacombs and Necropolis are now dropped by monsters in hunting fields.
  • The Blacksmith of Mammon and Merchants of Mammon now move randomly among the 11 villages.
  • The responsibilities and functions of Dusk Priestess and Priest of Dawn NPCs have been taken over by the Priest of Mammon, who offers different items for sale for Ancient Adena.
  • Functions that required Ancient Adena can now be carried out with regular Adena.
  • Red/Blue/Green Seal Stones currently in a character's possession can be exchanged for Ancient Adena with the Priest of Mammon.

Revamped Areas

Sayune and Adventure Marks

Sayune

Sayune was a demi-god, the child of a Giant and Sayha. Because his inherited powers were a combination of wind and grandeur, Sayune had the unique ability to jump higher and further than any other creature. With this power, he could travel across the land quickly. During the war between the gods and the Giants, their servant-warriors the Spiculas needed to travel great distances quickly, so Sayune's ability was studied and recreated as a skill that other people could use. Now, Sayune locations have been activated in various places in the world.

This transportation system is similar to a teleport system: it has fixed routes and start- and end-points. Only Awakened classes can use Sayune, and characters in a Chaotic state cannot use it.

Current Sayune locations are:

  • Aden: Talking Island Village, Ye Sagira, Dark Forest
  • Magmeld: Ancient City of Arcan, Fairy Settlement, Genesis Garden
  • Gracia: Keucereus Alliance Base, Gludio Airship Wharf

Adventurer's Marks

When hunting in certain party hunting zones, party members can receive one Adventurer's Mark each day. Marks can be exchanged for Seals by speaking to the Adventurer Guildsman NPCs that appear in certain instanced zones. The Seals, in turn, can be exchanged for various other items through the same NPCs.

There are four different kinds of Adventurer's Marks and of Seals.

Changes to Adventure Guide NPCs

Adventure Guide NPCs in each village now offer quests for and a variety of information about hunting zones. The quests can be accepted by characters of level 40 through level 80, and the list of available quests changes depending on the day.

Characters who click Today's Tips when speaking to an Adventure Guide NPC will receive useful game information as well as a daily reward. Adventure Guide NPCs also give useful buffs to characters of level 75 or below.

Zones

Newbie Villages

The racial starting villages have been ruined by rampaging fiends crazed from drinking blood rain, pestilent mist, and the activities of the Earth Wyrm Trasken. After much deliberation, the chiefs of each race decided to abandon their villages. With the approval of King Amadeo Cadmus of Aden, they begin the migration to Talking Island, a place protected by divine power. These refugees rebuilt Talking Island Village, and now all new players start there, regardless of race.

In the Kamael, Orc, Dwarven, Elf, and Dark Elf Villages, all NPCs are gone, and the appearance of these villages is much changed. The villages can still be visited via Gatekeepers and teleport devices, but the former newbie quest series has been removed from the game.

Seed of Annihilation

Recommended Level85–90
Zone TypeParty Hunting Area

The Seed of Annihilation has been thriving on Shilen's evil influence in the world. The Seed and all the monsters and raid bosses inside it have become stronger.

Changes to the Seed of Annihilation include:

  • The buffs Efficacy of Strength, Efficacy of Wisdom, and Efficacy of Agility are no longer given in the Seed.
  • New raid instance and boss Istina.
  • New solo instanced dungeon, Battle in the Nursery, in addition to the open party hunting areas of the Seed.

Battle in the Nursery

Recommended Level85–89
Zone TypeSolo Instanced Dungeon

Battle in the Nursery is a timed, point-based game in the Seed of Annihilation zone. Characters can enter the dungeon by standing in one of two red vortexes outside the main entrance to the Seed of Annihilation. Inside the Nursery instance, characters speak with the NPC to receive directions and initiate the 20-minute timer. For 20 minutes, characters must collect as many Tissue Residues as they can. The residues are collected automatically from the Failed Creation monsters a character kills.

When a Failed Creation dies, there is a chance it will cast an effect called Energy Regeneration on the character. This effect appears on the buff bar with one of three different countdown timers and can be stacked up to three stages. If the character speaks to the NPC before the effect expires, the NPC converts the effect into more Residues.

While fighting in the Nursery, there is a chance that a Maguen will spawn, steal Residues from the character, and run away. Depending on the number of Residues the Maguen steals, the character may be able to target and attack the Maguen. If the character does this successfully, the stolen Residues and extras are returned as a reward.

After the game timer ends, the character turns in the Residues to the NPC in exchange for Bio Energy Crystals. Crystals can be traded for items by speaking with NPC Kirklan at the Keucereus Alliance Base. After completing this dungeon, a character cannot enter it again for one hour. There is no limit to how many times per day a character can enter the dungeon.

Crystal Caverns

Recommended Level97–99
Zone TypeParty Instanced Dungeon

After drinking Shilen's blood, Beleth became even more powerful. In his continued obsession with his prisoner, Parme, he summoned evil creatures from hell and placed them in the various corridors in the Crystal Caverns.

Crystal Caverns has been revamped as a party instanced dungeon that cycles between three different versions throughout the week.

  • Emerald Square: A large room under a high ceiling of glass with an underwater view. Nine water strongholds and aggressive monsters are scattered around the square. Characters must destroy each stronghold before they can progress to the next one in order. When a stronghold is destroyed, it kills all the creatures surrounding it. When the last stronghold is destroyed, the door to the raid boss Veridan opens. Veridan exists in double form; the health of each form and their distance from one another change their behavior.
  • Steam Corridor: A series of six corridors built over chasms of lava, which quickly fill with scorching heat and monsters. Characters must storm through the six corridors as fast as possible before the heat becomes unbearable. All of the monsters in a corridor must be killed before a portal to the next corridor opens. Each corridor has traps that characters can trigger, causing area of effect damage to both monsters and characters. After navigating the last corridor, characters enter the final room, where they can defeat the raid boss Kechi, who summons monsters to attack the characters as his health diminishes.
  • Coral Garden: A donut-shaped room containing various monsters and two crystal golems, one on either side of the room. Characters must protect and escort each golem to the other's location. A golem will be bound to the character who activates it. If a golem is too far away from its bound character or is attacked by monsters too many times, it will return to its starting position. Once the two golems have switched places, the doors at the end of the corridor open and characters can reach the raid boss Michaelo, who summons minions as her health diminishes.
  • Coral Garden Hall: A bonus stage in which characters must clear four rooms within a time limit. If characters complete the Emerald Square, Steam Corridor, or Coral Garden course, and depending how long the characters took to complete the course, there is a chance that a Crystal Guard Golem will appear and send the characters to this bonus stage. Each of the instances has an on-screen timer that shows how long the characters have been in that instance.

The instance dungeon can be entered by a group of seven characters. Entrance can be gained by using a Crystal Caverns Admission Portal, which can be found in the Crystal Oracle and on Parnassus. The dungeon has no lock-out timer. The Crystal Caverns Admission NPC has been removed from the game.

Crystal Caverns is also home to the raid bosses Baylor and Balok.

Tower of Insolence

Recommended Level60–75
Zone TypeParty Hunting Area

The blood rain fell on the Tower of Insolence and seeped through the tower walls, reaching the corpses of high sorcerers within and reanimating them as undead. The revived monsters butchered those who were seduced by the fantasies conjured by Shilen's blood, and took over the tower.

The Tower of Insolence has been revamped to be suitable for characters of levels 60 through 75. Monsters in some areas of the zone have been replaced with new ones, including raid bosses for each floor.

  • Vladimir: Floors 1 and 2. After one of Vladimir's minions is killed, there is a chance of Vladimir himself appearing.
  • Lazearth: Floors 3 and 4. After one of Lazearth's minions is killed, there is a chance of Lazearth himself appearing.
  • Baron: Floor 5. The death of a certain monster on this floor will trigger an event with a sudden increase in monster spawns. There is a chance that Baron will appear at these times.
  • Frenzied Kenneth: Floors 6, 7, and 8. When Kenneth Bastian is killed, there is a chance that Frenzied Kenneth will spawn.
  • Heaven's Palace Sniper Captain: Floor 9. Appears during the same triggered event as on Floor 5.
  • Emperor of Heaven's Palace and Heaven's Palace Goddess: Floors 10, 11, and 12. These two monsters appear in random places once every hour.

Cruma Tower

Recommended Level40–55
Zone TypeParty Hunting Area

In their continued study of Cruma Tower, the scholars of the Ivory Tower have experienced an increase in work-related injuries while their researchers travel between the tower's many floors. As a solution, the scholars began to install elevators inside Cruma Tower.

All former Gatekeepers in Cruma Tower have been replaced with Ivory Tower Wizards who offer quests and teleportation to floors on which the elevator does not stop. More monsters of level 50 through 55 have been added to the zone.

Two new raid bosses have been added to the 2nd floor of Cruma Tower:

  • Accencio: This raid boss prompts characters who approach for proof that they are human. He gives a hint about a human action or emotion. If a character responds with the correct emote quickly enough, Accencio's HP will automatically be reduced by half. With or without the HP reduction, Accencio must be killed within one minute or he will despawn.
  • Malicio: This raid boss teleports to another location when a character approaches, or attacks after he's been in that spot for a while. Malicio has many set teleport locations on the various bridges around the area. When he arrives at a new location, there is a brief period of vulnerability while he charges up his teleport skill. When a character successfully engages Malicio in battle, Malicio must be killed within one minute or he will despawn.

Windmill Hill, Ruins of Agony, Ruins of Despair, and Wastelands

Recommended Level20–40
Zone TypeSolo Hunting Area

These areas have been revamped as a continuation of the newbie quest series and of the story of the Goddess of Destruction. The terrible monster Sakum from Ye Sagira was summoned by an unknown organization to the peaceful land of Windmill Hill. However, Sakum went berserk and annihilated the organization that summoned it. Freed from its shackles, Sakum disgorged little clones of itself in the Ruins of Despair and Ruins of Agony to absorb life energy, and hid its main body in the Wastelands.

The appearance and geography of each of these areas has changed and the areas contain some new monsters. The raid bosses Iris and Goya can be found in the Wastelands. They are suitable for characters of around level 40.

Shilen's Garden

With the construction of the Altar of Evil, west of the Dark Elf Village, the area in between the two sites is now populated with the same high-level creatures that haunt the altar.

Bloody Swampland

Recommended Level87–90
Zone TypeSolo Hunting Area

Formerly known as the Swamplands, the Bloody Swampland is saturated by dark red mist and black blood, which permeate even the deepest reaches of the marsh. Powerful monsters, drawn to the stench of blood, occupy the area. At night, a swarm of pestilent bugs sometimes appears.

Forbidden Gateway

Recommended Level95–99
Zone TypeSolo Hunting Area

Shilen's Altar has been constructed inside the structure of the Forbidden Gateway. The outdoor area swarms with high-level monsters that are drawn to the blood power inside. The raid bosses Half and Flint can be found here.

Other Changes to Zones

  • Change in the number and respawn period of monsters in Outlaw Forest and Forsaken Plains.
  • Increase in the level of some monsters in the Forsaken Plains and the Wall of Argos.
  • Increase in the HP of some monsters at the Wall of Argos.
  • Escape devices have been placed in Kamaloka - Hall of the Abyss and in the Labyrinth of the Abyss instances of all levels.
  • The monsters in some hunting zones below level 85 now have lower stats and give lower XP.
  • Addition of an effect that restores some of a character's MP when a monster is killed.
  • In Dragon Valley, the Moral Boosting Buff has been modified to suit the party size limit of seven characters. Awakened classes cannot receive this buff.
  • Elf characters who move to or are recalled to a village after dying on the Field of Dark Elf Village are now teleported to Dark Elf Village instead of Elf Village.
