Castle Sieges Light vs. Dark

Castle Siege Changes

As Shilen's power grows, the resistance of adventurers rises. The forces of malice and good, death and life, dark and light, now manifest in places of social power. The nine castles of the world can now be aligned as light or dark at the discretion of the victorious castle lord. The castles of Aden and Rune have become especially powerful.

Siege Time Changes

Castle Sieges continue to occur every other Sunday, but now all castles are in siege status simultaneously, beginning at 8:00 p.m. (server time). Castle Siege registration period, start and end times are announced server-wide when they begin and end.

Upon winning a castle from a siege, the Castle Lord no longer sets the next Castle Siege time: the next siege time is automatically set to 8:00 p.m. (server time) two weeks later.

Castles of Light, Dark, or Neutral Status

Upon a victory, the castle lord of the winning clan can set their newly won castle to be a Castle of Light or a Castle of Darkness. Each alignment has advantages and disadvantages that promote further competition between siege times. A castle can also be Neutral status, meaning it is occupied by NPCs instead of a player clan.

Upon the launch of Goddess of Destruction: Tauti on June 13, 2012, all castles will be set to Light alignment.

A Revolutionary NPC appears outside the Castle of Darkness during siege times, allowing clan members level 40+ that own a Castle of Light to purchase a special siege weapon. When the weapon is equipped, a skill usable only on the siege battlefield is added.
Alignment Perk Castles of Light can take on the Retrieve the Stolen Taxes campaigns that can reset the Rune and Aden castles to Neutral if they are Castles of Darkness, and kick out the owning clan. About Cloaks

A clan castle cloak has no grade but has the same equipment requirements as other cloaks in the game that are not class-specific: a full armor set of Dynasty grade or higher. It can be equipped by clan members of Marquis rank or higher.

A clan castle cloak can only be equipped when the clan owns a castle of the respective alignment. When the alignment changes or the clan ceases to own the castle, the cloak is automatically unequipped from the character but remains in the character's inventory.

Cloaks of Light cannot be equipped by Chaotic characters. A Radiant Cloak of Light is now required in order for a clan to reach level 11.

Siege Process

Registration: A clan must be level 5 or higher to register for and participate in a Castle Siege. Once the registration period is announced the clan leader can register the clan by speaking to the Messenger NPC. Clan registration can only be canceled by the clan leader and must be done by speaking with the Messenger NPC before the Registration Period closes. The Registration Period closes 24 hours before the Castle Siege begins.

Castle Siege Procedure
  • If a player character is registered to attack or defend a castle, they no longer lose XP if they die during siege battle.
  • Once a Castle Siege begins, the inside and surrounding areas of the castle are designated as a battleground.
  • A Castle Siege lasts 2 hours.
  • After a clan's intermediate victory over a castle, all characters on that territory (excluding those registered to defend) are moved to headquarters or the nearest first village.
  • If a clan leader successfully casts the 3-minute long Seal of the Ruler skill upon the castle's artifact, the clan leader gains ownership of the castle. Another clan can contest the claim and cast the skill again. However, if Imprint of Light or Imprint of Darkness is used, ownership cannot change for 5 minutes, even if Seal of the Ruler is used.
  • Two hours after the Castle Siege begins, the siege ends and whoever is the last owner of the castle wins.
Making a Castle Light or Dark

At clan level 5, the clan leader learns the Imprint of Light and Imprint of Darkness skills. After capturing a castle, the clan leader can use one of these skills to set the castle's alignment. The alignment can be changed one more time: after the end of a siege, a Chamberlain NPC of the opposing alignment is present for one hour only, offering the choice to change alignment. After the hour is up, or after the clan leader changes the alignment through the NPC, the opposing-alignment Chamberlain NPC leaves and the castle's alignment can no longer be changed by the owning clan.

Aden and Rune Castles

The status of Aden castle and Rune castle decree whether or not certain clan-competition Campaigns can be taken on.

  • If Aden or Rune castle is a Castle of Light or is Neutral, no reset Campaign can be obtained, and these castles can safely remain as a Castle of Light for two weeks until the next scheduled siege period.
  • If Aden or Rune castle is a Castle of Darkness, a special Campaign can be accepted which challenges that clan's ownership of the castle. The Campaign invitation is presented only to eligible characters: characters level 40 or higher that do not own a Castle of Darkness. The campaign involves an attack upon the targeted Castle of Darkness, and the clan owning that castle must defend it. If the defense of the castle fails, the Castle of Darkness will be forcefully reset to Neutral status, thus kicking out the resident clan.

The Campaign to reset Aden castle to Neutral becomes available at 6:00 p.m. (server time) on the Sunday following that server's last castle siege, and the Rune castle campaign becomes available at 7:00 p.m. on the same day.

Sayune jump points have been added to the Rune and Aden castles.

Tax System Changes

  • The territory tax for Gludio and Dion territories has changed. Talking Island Village is now a part of Gludio territory. Floran Village is now a part of Dion territory.
  • Alco's sales tax rate in the Ancient City of Arcan has changed from 20% to 30%.

The Aden and Rune castles are now more influential over castle tax revenue:

  • The clans owning the castles of Gludio, Dion, Giran, Oren, and Innadril can only collect tax revenue when Aden castle is a Castle of Darkness.
  • The clans owning the Goddard and Schuttgart castles can only collect tax revenue when Rune castle is a Castle of Darkness.

Castle tax revenue is deposited every Monday at midnight (server time) into the castle's vault, as long as the defense campaign on the highest castle is successful and the castle lord does not change. Like all merchant NPCs, the Merchant of Mammon's sales list is also affected by the tax rate and castle status of the town he is in.

Ceremony of Chaos

Background & NPCs

The Ceremony of Chaos is a sanctioned free-for-all style PvP battle exclusive to players in clans. It is meant to help train clans to work together and give opportunity for further practice and honing of one's own PvP combat skills. Rewards from the Ceremony of Chaos benefit both clan and individual character.

Lore Background

Gran Kain, the father of all creatures and the world, observed the progress of his daughter Shilen's evil plans. Although he felt resistance to her was futile, he saw the races of Humans, Elves, Dark Elves, Orcs, Dwarves, and Kamael continue to fight. It was slow progress, but the determination of the races moved them forward steadily.

Gran Kain was impressed by this and decided to promote their cause, despite that he rarely involved himself in the fight between light and darkness. He called upon his subordinates, the fallen angels, to call upon the heroes of the races and challenge them to a test of ability, offering to grant some of his own powers to the victor and their clan.

The orders came from a mansion but the identity of the owner is never revealed; the only representatives of note are the Mysterious Butlers Lumiere and Ains, who organize the Ceremony of Chaos. Lumiere appears to be human but this is but a disguise to hide his seraphic identity. Lumiere has the ability to create spaces in other dimensions, and upon Gran Kain's orders he created four arenas for the Ceremony of Chaos battles existing in a dimension between the material world and the world of Chaos.

Battle Process

Schedule

The Ceremony of Chaos runs on a monthly cycle, similar to the Olympiad. It begins at midnight (server time) on the first day of the calendar month, and ends on the last day of the month. Matches occur every 20 minutes for 5 hours every day, from 7:00 p.m. to midnight (server time). A character can participate in up to 15 matches per day.

The 20-minute match process follows this schedule:

  • 0 min — Match period begins: An invitation is sent to every eligible character.
  • 0–5 min — Registration Period: Eligible players have 5 minutes to sign up. Registration can be canceled with no penalty during this time.
  • 5–10 min — Entrance Waiting List: Registered characters are notified they will be moved to the arena. A 2-minute warning appears before the move.
  • 10–11 min — Entrance and Preparation: Characters are moved to a random arena and have 60 seconds to prepare. They are invisible to enemies during this time.
  • 11–17 min — Battle: Battle lasts 6 minutes.
  • 17 min 30 sec — Exit: The character is removed from the arena 30 seconds after the match ends.
Eligibility and Registration

To be eligible to fight in the Ceremony of Chaos, a character must:

  • Belong to a clan that is level 3 or higher.
  • Be level 76 or higher and have completed their third class transfer. Dual Class and Subclass characters can participate if they meet these requirements.

At the beginning of a match period, all eligible characters see an invitation message in the chat window and a blinking icon on the radar map. If a character reaches eligibility within the first 40 minutes of a match period, they will receive the invitation at that time.

To participate, the character must click on the invitation message and click Challenge in the pop-up window. If you are signed up but then log out of the game, your registration will be canceled.

Cancellation Penalty

A cancellation penalty is applied if any of the following happens:

  • The character cancels their match registration over 7 minutes into the Registration Period.
  • The character logs out or is disconnected from the game.
  • The character cannot be moved into the arena when the match begins (conditions include: is dead, is inside an instanced dungeon, has over 80% weight/volume in inventory, leaves the clan, changes to a class below level 76 / before third class transfer, is Chaotic, possesses a Cursed Sword, or is offline).
  • The character presses Quit before the match is over, or forcefully leaves the match.

If a character accumulates 30 cancellation penalties they cannot participate in the Ceremony of Chaos for that month. The penalty count is reset at the beginning of the next cycle.

Battle Process

There are two different kinds of battle: PvP against other characters or PvE against five NPC monsters. A single match can contain anywhere from 1 to 18 characters. You are placed in a match type and group at random.

Upon arrival, a character has 60 seconds to prepare. After 60 seconds, all participating characters become visible and the battle begins.

When entering an arena: skill enchantment and transformation status (unless flying) remains; servitors and cubics remain but pets are unsummoned; HP, MP, and CP are fully recovered; skill reuse timers for skills with less than 15 minutes of cooldown are reset. If a registered character is in a party, they will be removed from it upon entering the arena.

Herb Boxes may drop at random in the arena. When attacked, a box drops an HP Recovery Herb recovering 5,000 HP (excess goes to CP). A Power Herb may also drop, increasing P. Atk. by 100% and M. Atk. by 400% for 30 seconds.

Inside a Ceremony of Chaos arena:

  • All characters are renamed to Challenger [number] and flagged as enemies. Clan and alliance information is hidden, and ranking is changed to Vagabond.
  • Characters in the same clan cannot cast beneficial ranged spells on each other.
  • Chatting, private shop, friend invites, and other interactive actions are unavailable.
  • Character return and summon skills are not available.
  • Consumable scrolls and potions can be used.
  • XP is not lost upon death.
Determining Winners and Losers
  • If entering an arena alone in PvP version, you are immediately declared a winner.
  • In the PvE version, you win after defeating five NPC monsters. If you are killed by the monsters or do not attack them until the match ends, you lose.
  • If two or more characters enter an arena, the last character alive, or the one with the most kills over 6 minutes, is declared the winner.
  • If two or more characters survive the match but none are singled out as an obvious winner, a tie is declared.
  • If killed, you cannot be resurrected: you can watch the rest of the match as a viewer until the match ends.

Rewards

Buffs

All winners (and characters winning a draw) receive powerful buffs:

  • Doubtful Herb of Power — Increases P. Atk. by 100% for 5 minutes.
  • Doubtful Herb of Magic — Increases M. Atk. by 400% for 5 minutes.
  • Doubtful Herb of Vitality — For 5 minutes, Vitality is replenished when XP is acquired through hunting.

Losing characters receive the Doubtful Herb of Power and Doubtful Herb of Magic buffs as well.

Match Winner Items

After a winner is announced, 1 to 5 Mysterious Boxes appear at random in the arena. Only the Match Winner can open these boxes. Contents include:

  • Guaranteed: 2 to 4 Mysterious Marks.
  • Possible additional reward (one of the following at random): High-level / Top-grade Stone of Life R95 or R99-Grade; Yellow / Teal / Purple Soul Crystal Fragment R95 or R99-Grade; Mysterious Belt (3-day Limited Period).
True Hero

The character who obtains the most Mysterious Marks that month is declared True Hero when the monthly cycle ends, announced server-wide. Spending Mysterious Marks before the month is over does not affect the count. If the highest count is tied, no True Hero winner is declared. You can check your count with the /ceremonyofchaos command. The True Hero can obtain exclusive buffs and items from the Mysterious Butler NPC:

  • Ruler's Authority Belt R-Grade — Increases Max HP/MP/CP by 500, weight penalty maximum by 12,000, HP recovery rate by 10.12, MP recovery rate by 3.89, P. Atk./M. Atk./P. Def./M. Def. by 6%, reflected damage resistance by 5, inventory slots by 36, and resistance to all attributes by 10. Can be exchanged.
  • Mysterious Belt (3-Day Limited) — Increases Max HP/MP/CP by 500, HP recovery rate by 7.1, MP recovery rate by 2.74, PvP damage by 5%, reflected damage resistance by 5, and decreases PvP damage received by 6%. Cannot be exchanged, dropped, or sold.
  • 5,000 Clan Reputation Points
  • 5,000 Fame Points (individual)
Best Clan

The clan of the True Hero receives a special buff from the Mysterious Butler NPC: Ruler's Blessing — Sleep, Bleed, Shock, Poison and Hold attack bonus increases by 30% for 30 minutes.

Ruler's Consideration

The character that accumulates the most PKs in the match but does not win receives this prize. When opened it may give one or more Improved Stones of Life R95- or R99-Grade, or possibly Soul Crystal Fragments. Cannot be exchanged, dropped, or sold.

Consolation Prize

Even the losers win something! If you are defeated during the match, you receive 2 Mysterious Marks as a participation reward once the match ends. Be sure to stay until the match ends — if you leave prematurely you will not receive the reward.

Clans

With the removal of Territory Wars, the requirement of owning a territory in order to achieve clan level 11 has changed. Now, to achieve clan level 11, the clan leader must own a Radiant Cloak of Light along with the other requirements. The cloak does not have to be equipped and the clan does not need to own a Castle of Light at that time.

Clan Skills

The amount of boost in M. Atk. and M. Def. in the Clan Advent skill has changed from 2% to 1%. When upgrading this skill, the effect increase applies to all levels.

When a clan owns a Fortress, the clan leader can learn the following passive clan skills from the Support Unit Captain NPC. The clan leader can learn these skills specifically for certain ranks of clan members; the price is charged each time a new ranking is taught the skills.

Skill Name Description Requirements for Learning
Fire Squad Increases corresponding troops’ P. Atk. by 17.3. 12,000 Fame Points
8 Blood Oaths
Water Squad Increases corresponding troops’ P. Def. by 27.3. 10,400 Fame Points

Dark Squad Increases corresponding troops’ M. Atk. by 7.17. 12,000 Fame Points

Clan Insignia

The Clan Insignia is now known as the Clan Mark. The image size and file type has changed from a 64x64 256-color BMP file to a 256x256 24-bit or 32-bit TGA file. A Clan Insignia can be changed no more often than once every 15 minutes. A Clan Insignia is the square image that appears on a Clan Shield, Clan Flag, or Clan Tombstone.

All Clan Insignias must be registered in the new size and file type; all previously registered Clan Insignias of the old type will be removed from the game when the Goddess of Destruction: Tauti update launches on June 13, 2012.

Clan Flag

A Clan Flag can be erected during siege battles or raids to represent the clan and to strategically boost the clan’s morale, battles, and activities by way of useful buffs.

The skill to summon a Clan Flag can be learned by purchasing the Spellbook – Clan Flag item for 1,000 Clan Reputation Points from the resident Clan Merchant NPC. The skill is listed in the Clan Skills section and can only be used by a clan member of Marquis rank or higher. Every time a Clan Flag is summoned, 100 Clan Reputation Points are consumed. A Clan Flag remains summoned for 30 minutes, with a 30 minute skill reuse delay, but the buff effect lasts 10 minutes only.

The Clan Flag applies a buff that increases damage inflicted and decreases damage received by nearby clan members. A Clan Flag also creates an icon over enemy clan members’ heads, which serves to give visual indication of the Clan Flag’s range of effect for strategic purposes. If multiple Clan Flags are summoned, the effect of only one applies.

A Clan Flag cannot be summoned in the following locations: Olympiad arenas, Ceremony of Chaos arenas, Airship, Boat.

Clan Pets

Clan pets have been added to the game to provide a new way for clans to obtain Clan Reputation Points, now that the Territory War system has been removed.

A clan pet can be purchased from the Mysterious Butler NPC with 8 Mysterious Marks which are obtained from the Ceremony of Chaos competitions. There are two kinds of clan pets: the nurture type, and the combat type.

Nurture-type Clan Pet

A nurture-type clan pet summoning scroll summons a Raccoon, White Cat, or Desert Fox clan pet at random. Although name and appearance differs, the effect of each of the three pets is the same.

Once the clan pet summoning item is obtained, the pet can be summoned like a regular pet: it will be the constant companion of the summoner character, it will fight for them with basic combat skills, it can be given a personalized name, and it has a pet inventory.

Once the pet has been summoned for a total of 72 hours (does not have to be continuous) the pet disappears and 100 Clan Reputation Points are awarded, and there is also a possibility of a Mysterious Pouch being given as an additional reward. A Mysterious Pouch has a chance of yielding an attribute crystal.

The clan pet is suited for a clan level 5 or higher. If a clan pet is summoned and the clan reverts to level 4 or below, or the summoning clan member withdraws from the clan, only the Mysterious Pouch is awarded.

Combat-type Clan Pet

A Bratty Angma Summoning Scroll can be purchased by a clan member from the Mysterious Butler for 12 Mysterious Marks or 12 Castle Siege Soldier Badges. This clan pet summoning scroll does not summon a companion pet, but rather a creature that you must defeat in order to redeem a reward.

If you defeat the Angma within 30 seconds of summoning it, you are awarded 100 Fame Points, your clan is awarded 30 Clan Reputation Points, and there is also a possibility of receiving a Mysterious Pouch as an additional reward. It is difficult to defeat the Angma within 30 seconds alone, however; clan members are encouraged to take on the creature as a group.

There are four different kinds of Bratty Angma Summoning Scroll, pertaining to level ranges between 76 and 99. The summoning scroll is tradable.

Bug Fixes

  • When Clan Reputation is above 0, clan skills are now reset correctly.
  • Ornaments in auctionable Clan Halls no longer appear as black sprites in Rune Township.

Guillotine Fortress

Guillotine Fortress
Recommended Level Zone Type
95–97 Party Hunting Area

Previously known as the Execution Grounds, the Guillotine Fortress has evolved into an outdoor party hunting area for characters level 95 to 97. The rain of Shilen's blood on the land caused much damage in the nearby town of Dion. While rebuilding, it was foolishly decided to dump all the trash on the Execution Grounds, which were already bathed in plague and blood rain. The added evils infected the buried souls and forced them to rise again and haunt the area. Ominous high walls line the area, fortifying it from outsiders, and containing the evil within.

Awakened adventurers can reach the Guillotine Fortress by using Sayune jumping from the towns of Dion or Giran and using the north, east, and west open entrances to the area. Sayune jump points and drop-off locations exist within Guillotine Fortress as well, bringing adventurers to the various terraces, features, and even the raid boss location.

Monsters in the Guillotine Fortress protect themselves with a graphically-visible Chaos Shield aura, which boosts their physical and magical defense. The skill can be canceled by dropping the monster's HP below a certain level, or by weakening it with the Armor Destruction skill of a Tyrr Warrior in a party. The weakened Chaos Shield also makes the monster more vulnerable to half-kill attacks. If a half-kill attack is successful, or a certain amount of damage is inflicted on the weakened monster, Chaos Shield is canceled and the monster is stunned.

Beware: when a monster is half dead and has no Chaos Shield, it will attack more aggressively or desperately try to get its shield skill back up.

While hunting in a party in Guillotine Fortress, the Proof of Survival item drops at a low rate. This is a non-tradable time-limited item that lasts 10 minutes. Its existence in your inventory increases the chance of spawning an event monster with each regular monster defeated. The odds of spawning increase according to the amount of Proofs of Survival in one's possession. The event monster sometimes drops rewards such as Adena or crafting ingredients, and may spawn subordinates or even return from death!

Certain unique monsters spawn only at night: Alluring Irene, Pafuron, and Krutati.

The Guillotine Fortress is home to multiple raid monsters that can be defeated by a single party:

  • Crook the Mad — Spawns roughly once per day and fights melee by summoning subordinates and using knock-down skills.
  • Warden Overseer Houpon — Spawns roughly once per day and fights at range with arrows, magic, poison, and escape.

The Watchmen of the Eye of Infinity, called Isaads, guard the western entrance. They are passive but will attack you if provoked, so proceed with caution. The same goes for Fortress Scout Gazem, near the northern entrance.

Guillotine of Death Raid Boss

Guillotine of Death

In his human life he was the head executioner during the Peasant Riots but he had no qualms about killing the innocent. Eventually, he was killed for his actions and buried here, where he haunted the grounds for what seemed an eternity. Recently, the blood rain drove him mad with the power of Shilen and he now wanders aimlessly, butchering all who cross him until his goddess is resurrected in the material world.

The former raid boss from the Execution Grounds era has returned empowered. The battle to defeat him occurs in three stages:

  • Stage 1 — Execution Grounds Watchman: Appears at night. When his HP is reduced to 1, he transforms into Stage 2.
  • Stage 2 — Guillotine of Death: A powerful human warrior with a skull head. He fights with a spear and dark magic, and summons a subordinate as his HP declines. When reduced to 1 HP, he transforms into Stage 3.
  • Stage 3 — Guillotine of Death on horseback: Summons multiple subordinates and fights with a spear and dark magic. Upon defeating him, adventurers can loot his rewards.

Items

Tauti Items

A Tauti weapon can be crafted from a Tauti's Fragment, which is obtained after defeating Tauti in extreme mode raid battle, as well as other ingredients including 17,952 Crystals R-Grade and 1,496 Gemstones R-Grade. Take the ingredients to Maestro Ishuma at the Gludio Airship Field.

Tauti items also include boss jewels:

  • Tauti Bracelet Tauti Bracelet — Obtained by completing the quest involving defeating Tauti in a normal raid battle. Activates 5 talisman slots when equipped and increases MP by 216. Tradable.
  • Refined Tauti Bracelet Refined Tauti Bracelet — Obtained by exchanging the Tauti Bracelet along with a Bottle of Tauti's Soul (from the extreme mode raid battle). Activates 5 talisman slots when equipped. Increases MP by 216, and STR and INT by 1. Cannot be exchanged, dropped, or sold.

Seed Talismans

Seed Talismans are permanent items that can be acquired by anyone, but there are six different scales of quality and the best are the rarest. The base talisman is acquired by purchasing it from the Seed Talisman Manager NPC in exchange for Energy of Destruction and Giant's Energy. This NPC can be found in the towns of Aden and Rune, and at the Keucereus Alliance Base.

The talisman can be enchanted level-by-level to higher quality. The first five talismans are all non-tradable, but the sixth and best talisman can be exchanged if sealed through crafting. The effects from multiple talismans do not stack — only the highest-level equipped talisman's effects apply. The higher you try to enchant, the lower the odds of success, and it is even possible that your talisman could lose an enchantment level. Consider using an Elycum to increase success rate and prevent loss of enhancement level on failure.

Amaranthine Upgrades

R99-Grade Amaranthine weapons can now be upgraded and strengthened with PvP or PvE options and color effects:

  • Dark Amaranthine (PvP) — Increases the weapon's PvP physical, magic, and skill damage, and bestows a chance of not increasing PK count upon killing another player outside of sanctioned PvP combat situations. The weapon takes on a dark blue color tone.
  • Bloody Amaranthine (PvE) — Increases the weapon's PvE physical, magic, and skill damage, and allows buffs to be maintained upon death at the hand of a NPC or monster. The weapon takes on a bloody red color tone.

To upgrade an Amaranthine weapon, visit the Blacksmith of Mammon with the following crafting requirements:

  • Regular Amaranthine weapon
  • Amaranthine Enhancement Stone — PvP or PvE (depending on desired upgrade)
  • 360 Energy of Destruction
  • 180 Giant's Energy
  • 3,198 Gemstones R-Grade
  • 38×378 Crystals R-Grade

Amaranthine Enhancement Stone — PvE can be acquired through the Tauti boss battle. Amaranthine Enhancement Stone — PvP can be acquired through the Castle Siege campaign, Retrieve the Stolen Taxes.

Energy of Destruction and Giant's Energy

Characters level 85 and higher can acquire Energy of Destruction through hunting in certain zones and completing certain daily quests. You can acquire Energy of Destruction faster when hunting in a party in these zones: Bloody Swampland, Harnak Underground Ruins, Seed of Annihilation, Seed of Annihilation: Battle in the Nursery, Fairy Settlement, Orbis Temple, Garden of Genesis, Seal of Shilen, Seed of Hellfire, Guillotine Fortress, and the Altar of Evil Spirits.

Giant's Energy can be purchased from a Clan Hall NPC or acquired as an Olympiad quest reward.

Treasure Chests

Treasure Chests that previously appeared in random hunting areas have all changed to Dimensional Treasure Chests. The new kind of chest gives better rewards that scale according to the level of the hunting ground the chest is found in. Dimensional Treasure Chests don't just open and give you rewards — instead they take you to another dimension where you can participate in a mini-event to earn the rewards.

If you find a Dimensional Treasure Chest, interact with it to summon a Dimensional Door. Note that you can only use a Dimensional Door made from a chest within your character's appropriate level range. Go through the Dimensional Door to enter a single-player instanced dungeon.

Inside the area are the devil Verdof and many explosive barrels and walking treasure chests. Killing the barrels and treasure chests yields a plethora of herbs to heal and buff you. Interact with Verdof to begin a mini-game — you must accept his challenge or else you will be kicked out of the dungeon (but you can re-enter through the Dimensional Door if it is still open). He summons three Treasure Chests of which you must choose only one. Choose a chest and destroy it to claim the rewards inside!

The Dimensional Door remains open and a character can remain in the special dungeon for no more than 3 minutes. After this time the door closes and you are returned to your previous hunting area. Once you have completed the mini-game, you cannot get another mini-game instance until the 3-minute expiration timer has ended and until you find another Dimensional Treasure Chest of your level range.

Crafting Changes

  • The required amount of ingredient items needed to craft an R-Grade Unidentified item has increased.
  • Standard and Blessed items above level 95 can now be crafted with new recipes that require Weapon Piece, Armor Piece, and Accessory Gem items respectively, as well as other ingredients.
  • R-Grade and higher Dualswords and Dual Daggers now require fewer crafting ingredients.
  • Weapons' Special Abilities can now be upgraded with fewer R-Grade Gemstones.
  • The icon border color has been changed to easily differentiate between basic weapon items and attribute ore fragment items.
Bug Fixes
  • The problem of the same accessory appearing more than once on the Aden Reconstruction Society Member's hair accessory exchange list has been corrected. Enchanted hair accessories now maintain their existing enchantment when being upgraded further through this NPC.
  • P. Atk. now displays correctly on the Specter Thrower Damage Up + Focus item description.
  • The Blacksmith of Mammon can now use an Unbind Scroll on a Bound Apocalypse Avenger – Haste with no issues.

  • Dark Legion's Edge – Thunder is now listed in the correct Auction House category (two-handed swords).
  • D-Grade through S-Grade Soulshot recipes are now listed in the correct category of Supplies instead of Miscellaneous.
  • The issue of P. Def. not increasing when a head accessory is enchanted is fixed.
  • Bound Seraph Shoes can now only be unbound using a R95-Grade Unbind Scroll as originally designed.

Attribute Changes

  • If your defense attribute is higher than your attack attribute, the amount of damage you receive is decreased. Damage that raises attack attribute value can be increased.
  • When non-attribute skills are used, the attack attribute bonus shown on the character information screen is applied. When a skill attribute and an item attribute are the same and are both applied, their effect values are combined.
  • The monster attribute value has been changed according to the attribute bonus change. Attribute values of previous level 95 monsters have been decreased. The XP and SP acquired from monsters now depend on the transformed attribute value.
  • R-Grade or higher Life Stones can now be imbued with a new augment option that uses B-Grade gemstones.

The following top-level item skills have been added to existing augment options:

  • Charm, Peace, Guidance, Agility, Iron Body, Winter, Aggression Up, Aggression Down, Aggression, Hold, Mana Gain, Slow, Bleed, Shield, Empower, Spell Clarity, Might, Magic Barrier, Poison

PvP Systems

Territory War Removal

The Territory War system has been removed from the game. As of June 13, 2012, Territory Wars no longer occur and it is no longer possible to obtain Territory Badges of any kind. Most of the items sold by a Territory Manager are now obtainable from the Mysterious Butler through the Ceremony of Chaos system.

Existing Territory Badges will remain in the game and can be used in the following manner:

  • The Aden Reconstruction NPC will exchange Territory Badges for Hero’s Treasure Boxes.
  • The News Informer NPC will be in-game for one month after the update launches, until July 11, to exchange Territory Badges for all previous Territory War items and territory-specific items.

The News Informer also serves to help characters complete any unfinished Territory War-related quests before his departure on July 11, 2012.

The ability to obtain Noblesse status by exchanging 100 Territory War badges, or through the old Noblesse quest is no longer available even through the News Informer. There is, however, a new quest that awards Noblesse status.

Olympiad Changes

  • The Olympiad Manager NPC’s sales list has been updated as follows:
    • Removed: S- through R95-Grade weapons and armor.
    • Added: R99-Grade weapons and armor, and Giant’s Codexes.
  • Olympiad Manager sales prices have changed.
  • The Hero’s Cloak and Cloak of Honor now increase M. Def., all stats, and resistance to all attributes, in addition to increasing HP and CP.
  • The Warrior’s Temporary Healing Potion no longer recovers a certain amount of Max CON; it now recovers up to 5,000 HP, and any leftover recovery points go to CP.

Bug Fixes

  • After conquering the barracks of a Fortress, the problem of the conquer status not appearing correctly on the mini-map has been corrected.
  • Mentor and Mentee-exchanged enchant skills are now cancelled properly upon entering an Olympiad match.

Tauti & the Seed of Hellfire

Seed of Hellfire

Seed of Hellfire

Shilen, the Goddess of Destruction, is expanding her influence in the Gracia continent by empowering the Seeds that dot the eroded landscape. At her command, Tauti led his followers—the Zahaks, Kundas, and Zofans—to this place. Now, the fourth Seed in Gracia has been discovered and the most courageous adventurers are dared to challenge its dangers. Although Tauti is carrying out Shilen's command, he does not hide the fact that he is also seeking to increase his own power.

The Seed of Hellfire is a place of machines and industry. It can be reached by taking an Airship from Keucereus Alliance Base. The Seed comprises four floors. As one ascends through the zone the aesthetics and the quality of the machines improve, but there is evidence that civil war is brewing between the peons and the soldiers.

1st Floor – Sewers

The first floor is home to the Zofans, the industrial worker minions of Tauti. They live in the waste and garbage dumped by the upper floors of the Seed of Hellfire. The floor consists of three rooms with a river of sewage running through the central room. The entrance is at the southern end of this floor. Some quest NPCs such as Fergason and Sizrak, and a transportation assistant NPC are stationed here. Quest NPC Aku is at the southern end of the floor. The next floor up can be reached via a ramp from the side rooms, or through the drain mount of the central room.

Seed of Hellfire – Floor 1

2nd Floor – Factory District

The second floor is thick with fire, smoke and machines as the Zofans and Kundas work hard to make weapons for Tauti's military force. High walls divide the area into three rooms, similar to the first floor. This floor of the Seed of Hellfire is also a Quest Zone, meaning a zone event with special rewards will trigger when you enter this floor as a party of players.

The first and second floors are the only ones accessible without special requirements. The third and fourth floors of the Seed of Hellfire are reserved for the Tauti raids.

Seed of Hellfire – Floor 2

3rd Floor – Training Grounds

The third floor is home to Tauti's military force, where they rest, train, and worship Tauti. Kundas train in the front area and, up a staircase further down, Zahaks worship Tauti in a temple at the back, which is also where access to the fourth floor can be found. The Kunda area is littered with weapon and armor depositories, which raise the physical attack and physical defense powers of nearby Kundas respectively.

4th Floor – Tauti's Temple

The top floor of the Seed of Hellfire is dedicated to Tauti. In the center of this polygon-shaped room the Tauti Axe floats in the air. It is here that the bravest adventurers can prepare for and challenge Tauti to a raid battle.

The first and second floors are open to hunting by player parties. Monsters re-spawn, so battle here can go on as long as one has the will to fight.

The zone's progress flow involves two stages. Upon killing 200 monsters in Stage 1, players enter Stage 2, where a Transportation Assistant NPC on the first floor will transport players to the third floor. After being in Stage 2 for 24 hours, the zone instance reverts to Stage 1 status.

Tauti

The Seed of Hellfire is ruled by Tauti. He is part-golem and part-weapon in the shape of an enormous axe. The axe is one of the weapons of Bremmnon, making Tauti brother to Demonic Sword Zariche. Tauti and his minions empower themselves through mechanical innovations.

Normal Raid Method

The normal Tauti raid fight can be initiated by speaking to NPC Sizrak at the northern end of the Sewers level of the Seed of Hellfire. To enter the battle a command channel of 14 to 35 players must all have the Mark of the Resistance item—acquired from a local daily quest—in their inventory.

The Tauti raid fight is instanced and lasts one hour. It takes place on the Training Grounds level of the Seed, and on the fourth floor where players face Tauti himself.

Upon entering the raid on the Training Grounds, players will witness a cutscene depicting a civil war battle between Zofans and Kundas. Although Zofans have greater numbers, the Kundas are much more powerful. Adventurers must join the side of the Zofans, and in return the Zofans help the adventurers' progress to the next stage.

In the temple on the Training Grounds floor, the Kunda lords and the Zahak commander wait in the shadows to attack adventurers when they try to reach the entrance to Tauti's personal floor. When the Zahak commander is defeated he drops the Key of Darkness item (goes to command channel leader), which is required to enter Tauti's Temple upstairs.

When entering Tauti's Temple, adventurers find themselves in an antechamber to prepare for the raid. If even one person leaves the antechamber and enters the large raid room, the raid room doors close within one minute. The normal Tauti battle takes place over five phases:

  • Phases 1–3: Tauti gradually begins to use more impressive combat skills.
  • Phase 4: When Tauti has lost over half his health, he summons a Zahak commander to boost his own powers.
  • Phase 5: The Tauti golem has been defeated and only the axe remains, but it still has impressive skills. When the axe is defeated (and if the ally Zofan downstairs are still alive), the raid is successfully completed.

Epic Raid Method

The epic Tauti raid fight can be initiated by speaking to NPC Aku at the southern end of the Sewers level. To enter the battle a command channel of 21 to 35 players must all have the Aku's Mark item in their inventory, obtained while doing quests for Aku himself.

The Tauti epic raid fight is instanced and lasts 30 minutes. It begins on the Training Grounds level and ends at the death of Tauti on the fourth floor.

Upon entering the raid on the Training Grounds, the Kundas will be in two formations lining a path through the military area to the ramp to the Zahak temple. Characters must stay on the path created by the Kundas to pass without fighting. If characters leave the path, battle breaks out and it is not possible to proceed until the Kundas are all defeated.

In the temple, the Kunda commander and Zahak await those who would challenge Tauti. There are two ways to obtain the Key of Darkness:

  • Less aggressive approach: Enter the Zahak area without being in combat, allowing the Zahak commander to simply give the key to the command channel leader character.
  • Aggressive approach: Defeat the Zahak commander and his surrounding minions, allowing the Key of Darkness to drop. A successful Tauti raid using the aggressive approach will yield better rewards.

The command channel leader must have this item and then interact with the Teleport Device to access the fourth floor. The epic battle also takes place over five phases:

  • Phases 1–3: Tauti gradually uses more impressive combat skills and summons subordinates at an increasing rate.
  • Phase 4: When Tauti has lost over half his health, he summons groups of Zahaks to boost his own powers.
  • Phase 5: The Tauti golem has been defeated and only the axe remains. When the axe is defeated, the raid is successfully completed.
